After fighting against policing cuts for nearly four years, I am hugely relieved that the government has seen sense in suspending further cuts. However, I'm genuinely appalled that it took a terrorist atrocity in Paris combined with concerns for their political credibility to persuade the Government to do so, rather than genuine concerns about the safety and quality of life of the people I am not a politician, but I was born and bred in North Yorkshire and my heart and soul is in our County. I have come to a point, as have many, where I simply cannot abide another five years of political nonsense from Westminster. This has led to unchallenged Government policy being c…

Sorry for those who don't use Facebook, but here's a story causing quite a bit of interest. https://www.facebook.com/bbclookeast/videos/983439725070240/?comment_id=983729278374618&reply_comment_id=983741898373356¬if_t=video_reply The car driver looks like he was being a middle lane nitwit, but the HGV should not have responded by ramming - if that's what he actually did. But what I want to know is - are we now allowed to "undertake" assatated bty one of the respondents? I was under the impression that it was still illegal to do so unless the traffic is moving in a queue situation, in which case sometimes lane 1 will be moving faster than lane 2 or 3…

Croydon police launch advent calendar of wanted suspects Croydon police launch advent calendar of wanted suspects Daniel O'Mahony and Chris Baynes / 4 hours ago / News Croydon police are clearly protecting their teeth this festive season and have opted for an advent calendar with a twist. Instead of enjoying a daily dose of chocolate, they will release an image of a wanted criminal or suspect every day until Christmas. Police hope their "badvent calendar" (their pun, not ours - promise) will lead to offenders spending the new year behind bars. Detective sergeant Jonathan Kent, who leads Croydon’s wanted offenders unit, said: “We’re responsible for finding a…

Police To Confront Terrorists In New Tactic 09:41, UK, Wednesday 02 December 2015 The victims of a marauding gun attack on Britain's streets would probably have to wait until the attackers had been dealt with by armed police before they could be treated, according to Scotland Yard commanders. It is part of a shift in tactics, as police decide how best to deal with terrorists who are no longer interested in negotiating and only want to kill as many people as possible. The number of armed officers is being boosted in London and other centres of population in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris. Dozens of armed officers honed their skills in a training opera…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3340330/Yorkshire-Ripper-set-transfer-ordinary-prison-Killer-deemed-no-longer-mentally-ill-31-years-Broadmoor.html If this story is to be believed, this abomination will soon be released from Broadmoor into a normal prison but, apparently, he isn't happy because he will lose his Freeview TV and DVD player - items that, I guess, quite few pensioners in strained financial circumstances might like to have! I assume he will be cossetted if he is transferred as he might just become a target for some prisoner who isn't a sexually-depraved murderer - perhaps he can share a cell (maybe only for a little while) with the infamous Char…
