A pair of married police officers have been sacked for selling details of road traffic accidents. Nigel Mungur, 38, and his wife Nicola, 35, were dismissed after a Lancashire Police public disciplinary hearing. The couple were found guilty of gross misconduct at a hearing at Leyland Police Station on 7 March. Supt Sam MacKenzie, head of professional standards, said the pair had "undermined" the force's work. Apologising on behalf of the constabulary he said: "There is no place for conduct of this type within the police." The hear…

Staff affected were sent a first class letter, which Hampshire Police Federation chairman John Apter estimated cost the H3 service £800 Hampshire Police Federation, which represents Hampshire and Isle of Wight's police officers, says the force's pay system is "not fit for purpose" after further mistakes. An allowance due to 3,003 officers was wrongly calculated in March. Hampshire Constabulary apologised and said it would pay all the officers a flat rate allowance. In February, 1,300 officers received the wrong pay, with half being underpaid and half overpaid. Since November 2014, salaries have been the responsibility of H3 - a partnership between the county council, …

MPs have said that a fall in the number of motoring offences being recorded could be due to lower numbers of traffic officers. The Transport Select Committee has warned that further cuts to police forces could stop even more offences from being detected and recorded. It comes after the number of road policing officers fell from 7,104 to 4,356 between 2005 and 2014 in England and Wales. Labour MP Louise Ellman, who chairs the Transport Select Committee, told the BBC: "The fall in overall road offences does not reflect an improvement in driving." The number of offences detected on English and Welsh roads has fallen dramatically, going from 4.3 million in 2004 to 1.5 mill…
