The PSNI's chief constable has apologised to his officers after posting a tweet on Saturday that appeared to dismiss the pressure they are under. On Sunday, the Police Federation called on George Hamilton to withdraw the "offensive" comments. Its chairman Mark Lindsay said Mr Hamilton was "out of touch". In Mr Hamilton's initial posts, he told a fellow Twitter user: "Dry your eyes, do the job or move on." The Twitter user had challenged the chief constable's call for people to consider a career in policing, tweeting a picture of a historical recruitment advertisement and pointing out that it was now a more complex job than originally envisaged. M…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-37134899 man who must notify police 24 hours before he has sex has lost his legal battle to have the restriction lifted. John O'Neill, from York, was cleared of rape last year but given a Sexual Risk Order (SRO) due to comments he made to a GP and a nurse in 2014. Mr O'Neill said he had been misunderstood, but police argued he posed a risk to the public. District Judge Adrian Lower said the terms of the "frankly unpoliceable" order would be amended. He was particularly critical of the "disproportionate" requirement for Mr O'Neill, 45, to give a day's notice before starting sexual contact w…

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/black-lives-matter-protesters-gather-in-whitechapel-on-day-of-nationwide-shutdown-a3313356.html I some times wonder and despair at the motivation of some groups. This stems from groups and actions in the USA and nothing to do with us. They are trying to highlight the deaths of Black people at the hands of the Police. It has been timed to coincide with the death of Mark Duggan, a case which has been to an inquest. with jury, who found the death was lawful. In the case of Gunner Lee Rigby has was stabbed to death by two black radicalised men. Armed Police attended with weapons and yet nobody offender was killed. If ever there …

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3749612/Dragged-classroom-Shut-cell-day-Not-allowed-call-parents-did-police-lock-schoolgirl-word-fantasist.html I know that thios story is from the Daily Mail but, if just half of it is true then many heads should roll. 16 year old girl arrested at school, on a complaint from a fantasist who had already made false complaints. Denied a phone call, placed in a cell at the age of 16 years and denied access to her parents. If the family make an official complaint I can see many heads in the firing line. Have they ever heard of PACE in Notts?

Britain's biggest police force has set up a controversial unit – dubbed as ‘thought police’ by critics last night – to investigate offensive comments from the internet Full Story - Daily Mail Twitter are infamous for allowing abusive comments in the name of freedom of speech, there must be millions of vile/slanderous comments on Twitter, Twitter regularly refuse to cooperate with authorities in dealing with abuse. How the Police are going to force Twitter to hand over details is beyond me. Most Twitter use fake names as their ID as well so that is another issue. Facebook clearly is different, with more traceable info on open accounts.

http://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/glasgow-news/police-investigate-reports-poltergeist-after-11744093 Have any other officers experienced paranormal events on duty before? One of our old stations dated back over a 150 years, it was just a rural station used in the day and closed at night apart from the occasional officer who might pass by. Its shut now sadly and been sold on. It had an old cell, pre electricity, with ceramic walls and bared window with a glass hatch that the officer would hang a lantern as there wasn't electricity back in the day, one of the walls had been nocked down to provide a passage way to a newer built part but the rest of it left as is…
