Drivers faced long delays on the M25 in Essex while the horses were herded off the motorway A horse has been shot dead after escaping on to a link road on the M25, causing two hours of delays. The road connecting Junction 30 with the A13 in Thurrock, Essex, was closed for a number of hours while two horses were herded off the motorway. One of the animals became loose again while police tried to find its owners and was then shot by firearms officers. Police said the decision was taken "for the safety of motorists and to prevent further suffering to the horse". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-36990473

Source So the IPCC have decided there aren't enough bites of the cherry already... Also "more concerned with their own welfare", oh so we're supposed to care more about the violent person with the knife than about our own or our colleague's welfare.

West Midlands Police have been accused of ‘belittling’ a pensioner after posting a video which appeared to mock her for making an emergency call. Full Story - Birmingham Mail Anyone offended by this? I can't for the life of me see why people are offended, a campaign to reduce false emergency calls, surely that is a good thong? Not sure the elderly are being picked on, i have seen other videos where the people featured are young uns, shall we be offended by that as well? Some of the comments on that article are from people who appear to live in cloud cuckoo land.

Trevor Gray: Wife's battle to clear wrongly jailed detective's name http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-36905618 A High Court judge has said a police force was wrong not to reinstate a former detective wrongly jailed for raping a woman in 2011. Trevor Gray's wife Alison told BBC News how her family won a five-year, £150,000 battle to clear his name. Alison Gray still remembers visiting her husband Trevor in prison for the first time. "He was just a shadow of what he was before," she said. "He had lost a lot of weight and was sat with his knees bouncing up and down like a caged animal." In 2011, Mr Gray, a serving Nottinghamshire Police detective, was…

A woman called police to complain about poo in her garden. "There's a lot of excretia...I'm wondering whether it's dog or human," she told an operator on West Midland Police's 101 non-emergency line. Other callers complained about botch-job haircuts, broken clocks, wasps and the loudness of the ice cream vans chimes on their road, the force said. Ch Supt Jim Andronovsome said 101 was a "vital service" but "some people treat it as a general directory". He warned people to think before they dial, after July saw the line receive the highest number of calls in the last three years. The woman phoning about faeces said: "It's really making me feel sick. I don't know whet…

The police watchdog is now "more likely to believe black complainants than white police officers", according to a former officer and equality campaigner. Dal Babu, ex-president of the National Black Police Association, said the Independent Police Complaints Commission had "flipped" too far and did not look into racism claims fairly. He spoke days after a misconduct case of three officers accused of racism against a black firefighter collapsed. The IPCC has rejected Mr Babu's claims. Mr Babu, a former Metropolitan Police chief superintendent who retired three years ago, told BBC Radio 4's Broadcasting House programme the IPCC had been "incredibly unfair against white o…

The commissioner of the Metropolitan Police has warned a terror attack in the UK is “highly likely” and a matter of "when, not if". Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe said he cannot promise an attack will not take place, despite being in charge of preventing them. He said instead that he could offer reassurance by explaining what the police and security services were doing to protect the public. Speaking of the terrorist atrocities Europe has seen recently, Sir Bernard said: "I feel and understand that fear, and as the police officer in charge of preventing such an attack I know you want me to reassure you. "I am afraid I cannot do that entirely. Our threat level has been at 'Sev…
