I do not get out very much these days, but the glorious weekend weather persuaded me that I should spend a pleasant afternoon watching people stabbing each other at our annual celebration of stabbing, the Notting Hill Carnival http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2016/08/dont-black-lives-matter-want-ban-notting-hill-carnival/?_ga=1.84089040.877579118.1472718122 Appreciate this is discussed slightly in another thread, but I think it deserves its own thread, and tbf this blog by Rod Little is quite interesting. How much money does the Notting Hill Carnival bring in to the economy? Are the authorities worried that scrapping the event will lead them losing money? Po…

Yvone Francis-Parmar, 50, Eshe Graham, 20, Lisa Robinson, 48, and Malachi Glaiester Thomas, 30, appeared at Nottingham magistrates court last week charged with wilful obstruction of a highway. Image copyrightSWNS Thieves have stripped the doors and bonnet off a marked Land Rover outside a police station. The on-loan vehicle - part of an initiative to cut rural crime - was found damaged early on 26 August in Shenton Lane, Market Bosworth. The model involved, a Defender, has become increasingly desirable since production stopped earlier this year. Leicestershire Police confirmed the station, much of which was sold off in 2014, was not open at the time. Enthusiast Tony Sinclair, who runs a Land Rover garage, said: "They are like big Meccano kits, they bolt together and come apart very easily. "Doors and bonnets, along with seats, are ver…

Merseyside Police would have to call upon support from Manchester in the event of a major terrorist attack in Liverpool. That’s because the Merseyside force hasn’t received a penny of the extra £34m of counter-terrorism funding announced last year by the Home Office to recruit more firearms officers in major British cities outside London. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/call-boost-merseyside-police-firearms-11780198 I was going to stick this story in the local force, however I'm sure it's an issue across the country especially with forces surrounding the Met.

A lunatic driver castrated himself after crashing his car at almost twice the speed limit. Nicholas St Clair, 27, from west Hull, pulled out a tree branch which had pierced his groin in the smash and found his balls dangling from it, a court heard. Daily Mail Online http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3759288/Lunatic-speeding-driver-castrated-tree-branch-crashed-car-nearly-double-speed-limit.html Ouch..... I'm sorry I know I shouldn't but I can't help smiling. At least no other drivers were injured by his actions
