    A former Metropolitan Police officer has avoided a jail sentence after strangling his wife during an attack. Pere Daobry, a firearms officer with the Met for 12 years, assaulted Sarah Jay two days after Christmas last year when she said she didn’t love him any more. After an argument, the 44-year-old attacked the former Essex Police sergeant, strangling her until she was unconscious He then called 999, confessing: ‘I want to report an assault and I am the perpetrator.     New drivers could now face disqualification if six points are applied to their licence for driving while using a mobile phone. Motorists caught using their mobile phones while driving will automatically receive six points on their licence instead of the current three and on-the-spot fines will be doubled from £100 to £200, the government has announced.     What are people thoughts on the protest today at London City Airport? I viewed the video promoting the idea that pollution has now started to victimise BME people, having policed London for a number of years I have heard many good points put across but this just seems to be drivel put across to stir up racial tensions...thoughts?

    Mayor Sadiq Khan and Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe were at the Met Police passing-out parade in Hendon London's police are "more representative" of its diversity with the force having 4,033 officers from minorities, the commissioner has said.
