http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/World-New...Bodies_In_Hotel I have a question or two, only knowing what we read in newspapers or see on TV, would the British Police do a better job of what seems like mayhem 3 days after it started? I would put money on the reply being yes, and the reply being true. :smiley_notworthy: :smiley_notworthy: :smiley_notworthy: I can see the Police here allowing reporters being in the line of fire, like we see on our screens.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7762638.stm Policeman jailed for corruption David Rice was shot several times while sitting in his car A corrupt policeman who became the "eyes and ears" of a murder suspect has been jailed for five years. Det Con John Jones, 48, of Seaham, was offered cocaine and prostitutes to help Allan Foster stay one step ahead of the law, Newcastle Crown Court heard. Jones, 48, had denied four counts of misconduct in public office, but was found guilty on Tuesday 2 December. Judge Esmond Faulks said then that he had abused his position of trust and that a jail sentence was "inevitable." The jury heard that Jones began associating with Mr Fos…

This relates to the Counter-Terrorism Act 2008: http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts2008/plain/ukpga_20080028_en I am unsure if this has been posted here, and apologise for the contentious (perhaps even anti-police) stance of the site from which I source the information: http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2008/11/413023.html?c=on Personally, I believe that any legislation (within reason!) that goes toward making the job we do safer is a good idea. How will this effect sites/fora such as policespecials.com? edit: The section of the act of note: http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts2008/ukpga...9#pt7-pb3-l1g76

An Essex police officer who inadvertently forwarded an aged internet hoax is now dealing with hundreds of calls and emails from concerned women - the hoax looks more genuine now that it comes from a proper police address. Detective Constable Simon Lofting sent the mail on to senior officers to check if it was genuine but it got forwarded on. The story warned women not to accept business cards from strangers because they could be coated with "Burundanga" - which is "four times greater than date rape drug". The hoax mail first circulated in May this year, according to Snopes - one of several debunking sites which warn the story is false. Lofting told the Telegraph: "It's…

As a MOP (as i've just learnt i'm called) I wanted to comment on the Wigan police brutality thread. I think Police often have an uneviable task especially patrolling cities and towns on a weekend. Mark Aspinall's actions were profoundly wrong in many ways. Also being drunk is no excuse. But to see a member of the publics head purposefully banged of a road and then scraped along the road is utterly deplorable and disgusting. Thankfully I saw specials on this forum who were equally appalled by what they saw. Unfortunately some of the other replies were down right disgusting. 1. "I find nothing wrong in that CCTV and all I see is sensationalism" You should be thoro…

A constable has been sacked for misuse of Norfolk Police computers after sending e-mails to colleagues suggesting gay sex was "sinful". The force said the actions amounted to misconduct by Pc Graham Cogman, 49, who was dismissed following a hearing. Disciplinary action was taken over e-mails quoting biblical texts and suggesting homosexual sex was "sinful". He was also asked to resign over a charge of failing to treat a colleague with politeness and tolerance. Ther force said he forwarded details of a group offering to "cure" homosexuality. Deputy Chief Constable Ian Learmonth, of Norfolk Police, said: "This officer's behaviour fell well below what we expect of …

CCTV pictures have been released of an apparently unprovoked attack by three police officers on a soldier who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Lance Corporal Mark Aspinall was left with 14 head and face injuries following the incident in Wigan last July. The Police Compalints Commission is investigating. Source: Sky News and The Mirror Comments? Out of curiosity, did 'old style' TSG training allow officers to rub suspects faces on the ground if unrestrainable? One of them was a Special with 19 years service. Edited for grammar, spelling and final line.
