A POLICE worker who was shot with a "Dirty Harry-style" Magnum gun during a safety demonstration is suing for £300,000 damages. Keith Tilbury, 51, a control-room operator, was hit in the chest as he sat with 12 staff watching firearms officer PC David Micklethwaite demonstrating a range of weapons. However, while PC Micklethwaite was demonstrating the Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum - the revolver used by Clint Eastwood in the Dirty Harry films - it suddenly went off. The bullet passed through Mr Tilbury's body, missing his vital organs, and paramedics managed to stabilise him at the Thames Valley headquarters in Kidlington, Oxfordshire. He then underwent surgery at th…

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/new...rss=yes?rss=yes CHILDREN as young as 13 are being offered free condoms at school without their parents' knowledge in a drive to cut sky-high teenage pregnancy rates in Manchester. Why can`t a local authority be done for aiding and abetting under age sex? The law still stands at 16.

Police admit 'most terrible mistake' The jury at the inquest into the mistaken shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes has returned an open verdict. Two officers shot Mr de Menezes seven times as he sat on a train at Stockwell Underground station, south London. They thought he was a suicide bomber. A solicitor for the Menezes family said it was the best verdict they could hope for, given that unlawful killing was not on offer. The Metropolitan Police said his death had been a tragic mistake. The jury were given the choice of two possible verdicts, but chose to reject the option that Mr Menezes was killed lawfully by the police. Earlier in the inquest they were instructe…

The government has been accused of using "irregular" figures to claim a reduction in the number of youths carrying knives in England. In an unusual step, Sir Michael Scholar, head of the UK Statistics Authority, said the figures released on Thursday were "selective". Ministers say they showed a police crackdown on knife crime in selected areas was working. But Sir Michael said No 10 and the Home Office were being "premature". http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7780057.stm Jacqui, spin baby spin... whoops.

Tragic, but at least there are no injuries to bystanders or occupants of the shop. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bradford/7776784.stm Just heard that the IPCC said they are satisfied that the investigation can be dealt with internally.

Source: click here I very much agree with the naming and shaming of these individuals. Why should scumbags like that be protected by the law? They don't deserve their names being withheld. I hope they all get lengthy jail terms and that this poor girl can recover in time. What's also got my blood boiling is that this news article suggests that passers by didn't do a thing...not even call for the police. Disgusting.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article2025860.ece A DEMONSTRATOR — wearing a mask to ward off tear gas — hurls stones at cops as new rioting flares in Greece yesterday. Would i be right in thinking the Police here, would not stand for a riot to continue as long as these have. I am certain the public would not want riots such as these. The Greek Police either are not up to the job, or are unwilling to end it.

It has now passed evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). A police officer tried to blackmail sex offenders and a suspected criminal after getting their details from a computer, the Old Bailey has heard. Pc Amerdeep Johal is accused of sending menacing letters to 12 people in east London, for which he hoped to make £419,000 in July last year. Mr Johal worked at West End Central police station on the Met Police's criminal intelligence system Crimint. He denies 12 counts of blackmail and one of misconduct in public office. David Markham, prosecuting, said Mr Johal, 29, from Ilford, east London, also sent out text messages to other suspected criminals from the computer offering to help them commit or conceal crime.
