Clive and Anne Lunt, from Hyde, Greater Manchester, had their British bulldog pup, called Betty Boo and worth £2,000, stolen from their kennel in May. Man fighting for life after huge Birmingham city brawl Nov 24 2008 by Mark Cowan, Birmingham Mail A MAN was fighting for life today after being beaten up during a huge brawl in a Birmingham street. Up to 50 people were involved in the fight which spilled into the road after starting in the Hare & Hound pub, Marsh Hill, in Stockland Green. A senior police officer has been attacked by a gang and hit with a brick while out with his wife and son. He was targeted by four people - one a girl of 15 - in Surrey. Det Supt Gary Richardson, 49, deputy chief of Operation Trident, the drive against gun crime in black communities, was attacked in West Molesey. The attack happened in October, but the Metropolitan Police confirmed on Sunday that Mr Richardson was the victim. Four people have been arrested and bailed. Police investigating the 1985 murder of Pc Keith Blakelock are searching a back garden after a tip-off. The Met said the "forensic excavation" in Tottenham, north London, follows "recent intelligence" that evidence was buried there shortly after the killing. Pc Blakelock, 40, was hacked to death by a mob during the Broadwater Farm riots in Tottenham. Winston Silcott, Mark Braithwaite and Engin Raghip were convicted of the killing in 1987 but cleared on appeal. A motorist who ran down a 22-year-old man who confronted him with a knife and baton has had his jail term almost halved by appeal court judges. Stephen Armstrong, 47, was jailed for three years and eight months earlier this year for the offence near his home in Glasgow's south side in April 2007. Judges at the Court of Criminal Appeal in Edinburgh have now reduced his punishment to two years in prison. The ruling should result in his release within weeks. Four police officers die in crash The police vehicle is taken away from the scene of the fatal accident Four policemen have been killed in a road crash while answering a call for help from colleagues in County Down.
