Sex attacker, 73, 'facing jail' A Lincolnshire man has been warned he faces prison after admitting a string of sex attacks. Robert Bonnett, 73, from Tealby near Market Rasen, was due to stand trial at Lincoln Crown Court but changed his pleas before a jury could be sworn in. Bonnett admitted two charges of raping a young girl, three counts of indecent assault and a further offence of a serious sexual nature. The court heard the attacks happened between January 1980 and December 1998. Bonnett was granted bail and the case has been adjourned until next month for psychological, medical and probation reports to be prepared. But Judge Michael Heath told Bonnett, w…

EIGHT ARRESTED FOLLOWING BRAMLEY BONFIRE TROUBLE Thursday, November 6, 2008 Eight men have been arrested after trouble involving drunken youths broke out at a community bonfire at Bramley Park last night. Shortly after 9pm, PCSOs and special constables who were on patrol at the local authority event challenged a large group who were consuming alcohol in breach of the rules in place for the event. The officers were then attacked by the group who threw bottles at them. One PCSO received a minor cut to the head from a thrown bottle and another PCSO was punched on the chin. The officers called for back up and local neighbourhood policing officers, supported by other o…

A London police unit dedicated to tackling human trafficking will close after the Home Office withdrew £2.3m funding support. A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed the Human Trafficking Team will disband in April 2009. Critics say the unit is vital to protecting vulnerable men, women and children who are sold or lured into the sex trade, slavery or illegal working. But the Home Office said the money was intended as one-off start-up funding. A Home Office spokesman said the government's support for the policing of those who traffic people into the UK for the sex trade or as low-cost illegal workers will continue. "We have made it clear that trafficking shoul…

Met chief's pay-off 'a disgrace' Sir Ian Blair will step down in 1 December A reported £400,000 pay-off to the Metropolitan Police Commissioner has been branded a "disgrace". The sum is believed to be what Sir Ian Blair would have been paid had he stayed in post to the end of his contract in February 2010. He resigned last month saying he did not have the confidence of the Mayor of London Boris Johnson. Some London Assembly members claimed the pay deal effectively leaves Londoners paying for two police chiefs. Sir Ian will officially step down on 1 December and the post of commissioner is being advertised at £253,000 a year. Danny Shaw, the BBC's home affa…

Link to whole article... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/c...icle5118997.ece A quote from the article states: More searching, outside a Londis. This time there is aggression: Andrea and a colleague move in on a young man and suddenly she is on the ground. Then he is. A full moon emerges from the clouds and a smart woman noses by in an MGB. “It transpires,†says Chris Bethel while Andrea leads her assailant to the van in cuffs, “that he didn't want to take his shoes off, because in one of them was a stolen Oyster card.†I raise my eyebrows. I'd say that this wasn't CoP compliant as she asked for more than JOG and was not the same sex as the DP. Your tho…

THEY may be the Fuzz, but they are not Hot. Scotland's new police recruits have been left shivering in cold showers as the nation's only training college struggles to cope with a massive new influx. Chiefs at Tulliallan last night admitted they had been having problems heating enough water for scores of extra probationers signed up under the Scottish Government's recruitment drive. The Fife centre, formally called the Scottish Police College, is currently bursting at its seams, with 580 probationers undergoing their initial 16-week training. That is nearly as many – at one time – as it trained over several intakes in the whole of last year. Its di…

Clarkson joke sparks complaints The clip mentioned; LINK Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has prompted nearly 200 people to complain to the BBC about a joke he made on Sunday's motoring show. Clarkson, 48, was taking part in a lorry-driving task, when he suggested that lorry drivers kill sex workers. "Change gear, change gear, check mirror, murder a prostitute, change gear, change gear, murder. That's a lot of effort in a day," he said. Lorry driver Steve Wright was jailed in February for killing five prostitutes. Clarkson's joke, made before the watershed, sparked 188 complaints. 'Urban myth' In a statement, the BBC said: "The vast majority of Top Gear viewers…
