http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article2352417.ece HE Met Police have been ordered to pay £400,000 in damages after a technician cut his finger on a knife left in a squad car. More huge unwarranted cash payouts. If you can get 400,000 for a cut figure, i wonder what i could get from a evil glance. :spiteful:

Link. £400k for a cut finger? So long as there was no permanent damage or infection, I'm wondering if that's a little excessive...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/dorset/7734244.stm Offenders as young as 10 are meeting the victims of their crimes in a new project being piloted by Dorset Police. I would not mind meeting the criminal, as long as one can do him/her some harm.

http://www.sussex.police.uk/news_feed/index.asp?id=26482 Brilliant' police work led to the conviction of David Chenery-Wickens for the murder of his wife Diane last year, viewers to BBC's Crimewatch programme were told this week. I put up this story, not that the story is that interesting, but rather, the Police get praise from the media, somewhat unusual. :smiley_notworthy: :smiley_notworthy: :smiley_notworthy: :smiley_notworthy: :smiley_notworthy:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/mar/30/c...ers-vote-public A new scheme which claims to give the public the right to vote on what physical work should be carried out in communities by offenders is to be launched today. I`m, sure i put up a very similar story sometime back. Seems a load of waffle to me, i thought we had courts to decide on these matters.

Excuse me if this has been posted already. The policing pledge campaign has come under some criticism, i just wanted some opinions from you guys as to what you think? Should we have spent the tax payers money on more officers or do you think this is a good idea? Police pledge adverts criticised Critics say the campaign money should have been spent on police officers The government has been criticised over a £3.5m advertising campaign for the police service. The Taxpayers' Alliance said money from the "pledge" adverts, which aim to respond to public concerns, should have been spent on extra police resources. The campaign runs on posters, in newspapers, on the in…

Three people have been arrested in the House of Commons after an incident behind the Speaker's chair, according to Sky sources. The three were said to be guests of a Conservative Party 'spring drinks reception' being hosted by the Tory chairman Eric Pickles. Sky News political correspondent Jon Craig said Conservative sources had told him the two men and one woman were journalists. "Police broke up what the Conservatives have told me was a domestic," he said. "There are cells in the House of Commons and they could be held there for some time. "My understanding is that these people are under arrest still." Craig added that the Tory chairman was likely to be hugely em…

A stash of police uniforms and equipment have been uncovered in Salford, hours after a robbery by bogus officers at a social club. More than 100 PCSO uniforms and hundreds of batons, jackets, body armour, handcuffs and CS spray holders were found in a Lower Broughton flat. The uniforms, with old Metropolitan Police badges sewn on, were being sold for about £100, police believe. They were used by raiders at the Royal British Legion club in Walkden. ID checks Two men stopped a steward at the Wilfred Road club early on Monday claiming to be police officers searching for drugs. The burglars handcuffed the steward before ste…

PRISON officers have foiled a possible escape plot at one of Yorkshire's most secure jails, the Ministry of Justice confirmed today. An investigation is under way into the incident at Full Sutton prison, near York, which was discovered on Friday. But officials said they could not confirm reports the plot involved an audacious plan to spring convicted terrorists using a helicopter. According to a national newspaper, nine Muslim inmates were aiming to hold the prison imam hostage using stashed weapons and then move to a sports field where they would be picked up by a helicopter. The chopper was to have been hired by an outside contact on the pretence it was needed for a…

Bomb experts at 'fireworks' flat Bomb disposal officers are going to a Devon flat at the centre of police inquiries into an alleged terror plot in connection with London's G20 summit. It follows the discovery by police of more "firework-like devices" at the flat in Radnor Place, Plymouth. An imitation Kalashnikov rifle and fireworks were seized by officers in Plymouth over the last few days. A woman of 20 has been released on bail but another woman, 20, and three men aged 25, 19 and 16 remain in custody. 'Imitation weapons' A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said the decision to send in Royal Navy bomb disposal experts was a "precautionary measure" to "ensure the…
