I hope now that they've been found guilty that the court gives the remaining £15k to Ms McDonagh. I think people get confused because under Lottery rules Camelot will not pay out unless you have the winning ticket. That's not the same as finding a ticket and then stating that the money is rightfully yours.

Linkage: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/8008965.stm Hmm, Its a shame really, you have to gain alot of trust with you youth members and something like this could make them lose the trust of leaders as the leaders are the ones who should be looking out for the cadets to recognise these things. But if the youth leaders are the one who are doing the abusing who is going to look after them? well done to them for reporting.

Two thieves tortured an elderly man to death with a knife and his own walking stick during a burglary in Wiltshire, a jury has been told. Winchester Crown Court heard John James and Joby Barney conspired with three others to burgle 75-year-old Reginald John Baker's home on 5 September 2008. Jurors were shown pictures from a CCTV camera in Mr Baker's house which filmed the break-in and torture. Mr James, 19, and Mr Barney, 25, both deny murder and conspiracy to burgle. Mr Baker was tortured for half an hour by the pair, who tried to make him say where his savings were, jurors heard. The court was told how Mr Baker had been the victim of an earlier burglary on 30 July.…

Video from the BBC of Tamil protestors today breaking through police lines. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8008044.stm I can't help but wonder whether the Metropolitan Police's, and/or those of individual officers on the ground, responses more measured in light of the accusations of excessive force at the G20.

Hi, I have been dismayed at the biased reporting of the by the media regarding the G20 policing. Some newspapers that have political affiliations is to be expected but when it come to the BBC........ I am concerned! I would urge all colleagues who feel that the reporting is unbalanced to lodge a formal complaint with the BBC. My complaint went as follows: "I wish to complain regarding the biased and inaccurate reporting of the G20 protest and the coverage of the the Home affairs select committee hearing on 21st April 2009. The comments made by the HMIC were taken out of context and raised as a banner heading. The HMIC was asked on several occasions regarding the foo…

A third postmortem examination is to be carried out tomorrow on the body of Ian Tomlinson, the newspaper seller who died shortly after a police officer hit him from behind during the G20 protests on 1 April. Lawyers representing a Metropolitan police officer who is being questioned in connection with the incident have appointed a third pathologist and requested that the City of London coroner allow the test to be conducted. The officer has been interviewed under caution on suspicion of manslaughter. I think this may be taken wrong by some, if this finds heart attack, we can all guess what the head lines are going to read
