Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...in_page_id=1770 A Muslim police officer given bacon and wine as a "Secret Santa" gift decided to treat it as a harmless if tasteless joke. But a non-Muslim colleague failed to show the same level of tolerance. The officer who supplied the gift, 26-year-old PC Rob Murrie, was reported to his superiors for racism. And PC Murrie subsequently came under such pressure that he felt he had no option but to resign from the Bedfordshire force. Yesterday the target of the joke, 31-year-old Arshad Mahmood, said he still regarded PC Murrie as "a good officer and a good friend", while Muslim community leaders accused police c…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11...rodent-run.html This recording released by frustrated police makes for worrying, if hilarious, listening - in a panic, a woman dials 999 to report her hamster missing. And the recording http://arbroath.blogspot.com/2009/07/woman...rt-missing.html Some daft people out there.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/surrey/8122567.stm Officer surprises graffiti tagger A man who sprayed graffiti on a ramp at a skate park in Surrey was arrested by the person standing next to him, who was an off-duty police officer. The 21-year-old, from Farnham, was unaware he had been spotted by the man as he created his tag at the town's park in Dogflud Way. Sgt JP Davis even managed to photograph the offender as he "worked" and called for other officers to attend the scene. He was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and bailed. Surrey Police said a search of the man revealed paint pens and a book containing practice "tags" which were seized and w…

This just goes to show that you can be called in to action anytime. The other four officers mentioned turned out to assist without being called. A good example of where we can help make that difference. Special first at air crash 6:30am Monday 22nd June 2009 Comments (0) Have your say » By Emily Allen » AN off-duty volunteer policeman yesterday told how he tried to co-ordinate the rescue effort after last weekend’s mid-air collision above Drayton. Craig Dewar, a Sergeant in the Thames Valley Special Constabulary, was at home when he saw a glider tumbling from the sky seconds after it had collided with an RAF training airplane. Shocking incident- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8134467.stm Just goes to show how dangerous fire can be and that might be pointing out the obvious but alot of people have such a complacent attitude towards fire drills and generally knowing what to do in the event of a fire Its quite sad that the BBC have giving airtime to a bloke who complains the fire service "did not know what they were doing" http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8134296.stm

Does anyone know how will these offences (seatbelt and number plates) be dealt with? If with the current £60 FPN, are the offences also going to be endorsable and attract the three points on the driver's licence? Seatbelt dodgers face tougher penalties (from homeoffice.gov.uk) 29 June 2009 Motorists caught without a seatbelt will now face on-the-spot fines of £60. The fine doubled from its previous level of £30 as part of a new road safety crackdown. Seatbelts reduce the risk of dying in a 30mph crash by 60%, yet some drivers and passengers are still refusing to wear them. The increased fine follows a public consultation to find out what people thought about moto…
