A Tory government would attempt to remove the long standing peace camp in Parliament Square, David Cameron says. Mr Cameron today told Sky News' Sunday Live a future Tory government would take steps to have it removed. He said: "I am all in favour of free speech and the right to demonstrate and the right to protest. "But I think there are moments when our Parliament Square does look like a pretty poor place, with shanty town tents and the rest of it. "I am all for demonstrations, but my argument is `Enough is enough'." http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/default.stm "I am all in favour of free speech and the right to demonstrate and the right to protest." - well,…

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/...range-vest.html CRIMINALS as young as ten could be forced to wear bright orange jackets to do community service. One can foresee a time where these jackets will be made designer jackets, and will be the next cool thing after ASBO`s.

Pc James Drew, of Eastleigh, crashed into a garden in Alresford Road, near Winchester, sometime between 0600 and 0700 GMT on Thursday. The seriously injured Pc was discovered in his car by a resident at the house, who phoned police. The 27-year-old was cut free from his Skoda Octavia and taken to hospital where he later died. Police should be given powers to seize young troublemakers' mobile phones or bikes as punishment for antisocial behaviour, the Conservatives said today. Chris Grayling, the shadow home secretary, said he wanted officers to confiscate such possessions for up to a month to deter badly behaved youths. He said losing their phone or bike would be a "21st century clip around the ear" for youngsters who stepped out of line, and would help disrupt gang activity. The idea is part of wider plans to give officers more discretion to hand out punishments in communities blighted by antisocial "yobs". Grayling has already suggested young people could be grounded by the authorities a…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12...on-slashed.html Victims of violent crime are to have their compensation slashed if they have previously committed minor offences such as speeding. Not sure how one has anything to do with the other, don`t seem right to me.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12...me-streets.html The guy looked terrible. A single punch had broken his jaw in two places. His teeth seemed to float up and down against each other. His eye was half closed, he had difficulty speaking – and he had no intention of telling the police anything. Welcome to the reality of violence in Britain. More on this story http://www.bbc.co.uk/truthaboutcrime/stori...ent_crime.shtml Violent crime dominates our newspaper headlines, particularly gun and knife attacks. But our audit revealed that by far the most common form of violent crime in Oxford is low-level drunken brawls.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/...uiet-rooms.html STRESSED-OUT coppers could get special rooms in their stations so they can "pray and have a quiet moment". Not sure how many will pray, but a quiet moment would always be welcomed, good idea in my view.

Source STUNNED police gave chase to a UFO after it attacked their helicopter near a military base. The mystery aircraft zoomed straight at the chopper as the three-man cop crew prepared to land. The pilot banked sharply to avoid being hit, then launched into a high-speed pursuit. But he was forced to give up the chase as the helicopter’s fuel ran low – and the UFO escaped. All three crew described the object as “flying saucer-shaped†and circled by flashing lights. They reported it to senior officers, who passed on the report to Britain’s UFO investigators. The incident happened as the helicopter was returning to the MoD’s St Athan base near Cardiff, w…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12...fear-crime.html They have long been accepted as a sensible way of helping to solve crime. But bright yellow police signs appealing for witnesses to serious offences are no longer such a feature of grim city streets - in London at least. "Privately, however, senior policemen say the ban is 'ridiculous'. I could not agree more. Do these signs increase crime? i doubt it, but i not have figures to prove it either way.

A student has been jailed for a minimum of 10 years for plotting to blow himself up using his own "suicide vest" and home-made explosives. Isa Ibrahim, from Bristol, was convicted at Winchester Crown Court of making explosives with intent and preparing terrorist acts in April 2008. He had denied both charges but pleaded guilty to a third charge of making an explosive substance. Prosecutors said Ibrahim was planning to attack a shopping centre. He was given an indeterminate sentence, with the judge saying he should serve a minimum of 10 years. Mr Justice Butterfield told Ibrahim that, even though he had not made a detonation device or completed the suicide vest, "…

Source A police officer described today how he was attacked by a mob after asking a schoolgirl to pick up a burger wrapper. PC Anthony Smith was surrounded by up to 40 people after confronting the teenager in a shopping precinct in Croydon, south London. The town's Crown Court heard how the 15-year-old exploded into a frenzy of violence and screamed abuse as PC Smith tried to speak to her friend. The beat officer told a jury he was suddenly grabbed by the throat from behind and pulled to the ground before being kicked and stamped on. He was targeted by members of the crowd as the girl grappled with his colleague, PC Perry Lathwood, before repeatedly punching him in t…
