    Police lost and found thief fined A civilian worker who stole from lost and found property at Grampian Police has been fined. Karen McLennan, 27, stole gift cards and money from the unit at the force's Aberdeen headquarters. McLennan admitted stealing £195 in cash, and seven gift cards, between October 2007 and March last year. The court heard it was out of character and the first offender was ashamed.     A Grampian Police officer convicted of diluting his urine sample during a suspected drink-drive probe has avoided a jail sentence. Sgt Ewan McHardy, 41, was stopped while off duty in Elgin in 2005. Cans of lager and a kebab were seen in the car and a smell of alcohol was detected. McHardy, of Aberdeen, was found guilty of later tampering with his sample. The sheriff fined McHardy, who is suspended from duty, £6,000 - after hearing he would lose his pension.     I heard about this on Radio 2 today and was confused by the story so had to look it up... A wee bit of trouble... I assumed that he had tampered with another offenders sample as the report said he had sent a sample to a separate lab. But as you can see, it was HIS sample. So, can someone clarify why the DP gets a sample of his own urine!?!?!? Is this a Scotland thing? Super confused... :wacko:

    Two policemen accused of breaking a man's leg and blinding him in one eye during an arrest have been cleared. Sgt Paul Jackson, 41, and Pc Michael Prendergast, 29, were charged with assault and accused of leaving 44-year-old Paul Molyneux with facial injuries. The Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers had been called to Hitchen Foods, in Wigan, on 6 June 2007. A trial at Liverpool Crown Court did not go ahead after the CPS decided not to proceed with the case. The officers remain suspended from duty, a GMP spokesman said. During 2008/09 complaints rose 8% from the previous year to 31,259. Steven Evans, 23, of Abbey Village, admitted engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
