Doctors in the UK should tell police every time they treat a victim of gun and knife crime, new guidelines from the General Medical Council will state. They are also told they can breach patient confidentiality by giving police information if they believe a crime has or will be committed. If a patient is diagnosed with a genetic disease doctors will be able to tell relatives, without consent. The revised guidance on confidentiality will be published on Monday. It is the first time doctors have been explicitly told they should report all knife crime as previously they only had to report patients with gunshot wounds. It is hoped this will help police get better statist…

It was only on Tuesday that I said to a colleague that you don't hear of many ram raids any more. I guess it's to do with the newer types of security features they have around buildings and then this popped up. "I broke" is certainly no excuse for something like this! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/8274635.stm

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/essex/8272800.stm Ok i dont want this to get into a debate about the use of force argument as clearly the video here is edited and we dont know what went on before or after the video. What i do want to debate though is this line from the cps The ipcc are investigators at the end of the day, like ourselves. So i dont see why the fact they are doing an investigation should have any bearing on justice being served!!!

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/18/20090924/tuk-p...sh-2c0ffe7.html Police have decided not to prosecute Craig Bellamy over the clash with a fan on the pitch. Here's the video of the incident http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHMijvxxXBA A fan runs onto the pitch and is tackled to the ground by a steward. 3 other stewards are there with a second or two. The fan is lifted up with one steward pinning both his arms behind his back, a steward holding each of forearms and the forth steward standing close by. Bellamy walks over to the fan whilst he is restrained and shoves him in the face. Now, personally, I would have said that is common assault. Granted, the fan shouldn't have g…

Complaints against Essex Police increased by more than a third in the past year, compared with a rise of 8% nationally, a watchdog has said. Statistics released by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) show there were 908 complaint cases recorded between 2008 and 2009. This was up from 677 the year before, a 34% rise, the IPCC said. Essex Police said 908 was "a low figure compared to the number of interactions between the police and the public". The force received 543,964 calls to its control room and attended more than 447,000 incidents during the period looked at by the IPCC, a statement added. "Essex Police has a committed and enthusiastic workforce …

Source: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/09/24/met_apology/ A Reg contributor who was unlawfully arrested and had his home PCs inspected by the Met has received an apology from the police after four years. David Mery was wearing a coat "too warm for the season" and was carrying a laptop - according to the police who arrested him at Southwark Tube station, the day after the second wave of London bombings in 2005. The Police made a search under the Prevention of Terrorism Act but having found nothing suspicious and Mery co-operative, were set to release him. Then decided to make an arrest on grounds that he was a public nuisance. "I was arre…
