One man has died and another suffered serious injuries when the car they were travelling in crashed while being pursued by an unmarked police car. West Yorkshire Police said the 20-year-old driver of a Seat Leon from the Stocksbridge area died when the car crashed on South Street in Keighley. The car was being followed shortly after midnight on Sunday morning. A 15-year-old male passenger suffered serious head injuries and two 16-year-olds were taken to hospital for checks. Police said the Seat car failed to stop for officers and hit a wall and then a metal security gate outside Keighley Business Centre. The 15-year-old passenger was initially taken to Bradford Royal…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-12175431 Flyers have been posted around a south London estate, where a 17-year-old was shot dead, urging people not to give information to the police. The flyers are linked to a website Stop Snitching which offers to help people who do not want to co-operate with authorities. The website tells people not to trust Operate Trident, which investigates gun crime within London's black community. Det Ch Supt Stuart Cundy called the campaign "irresponsible leafleting". Sylvester Akapalara, of Streatham, was shot dead in a stairwell on the Pelican Estate in Peckham on 29 December. Three males - two 18-year-olds and a 17-year…

A police force has denied a four-year crackdown on kerb-crawlers has made sex workers more vulnerable to attack by forcing them to move on to other areas. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-12164811 Very odd attitude from the BBC. Is that not like the Police asking people to put in burgle alarms in order to make thieving tougher? I have offered my services to local Police, a large vehicle in order to put in our local prostitutes, and drop them off in deepest darkest Hertfordshire, allow them to walk home. Do it twice and these girls do not come back to your area.

Interesting article on the increasing tendency to dress up like we're in constant terror for our lives. I've often felt what a terrible impression it must make on the public to see police doing their shopping in Tesco wearing heavy body armour. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-1293757/How-public-feel-safe-police-scared.html

POLICE AUTHORITY PUBLISHES BUDGET CONSIDERATIONS Cheshire Police Authority has today published the papers which will be considered at a meeting of its Finance Committee on Tuesday 1 February. Margaret Ollerenshaw, Chairman of the Authority said, “This year, in order to be more open and transparent, we decided to turn the meeting into a public Committee and publish the information we consider about the budget earlier. This means that people can see the challenges we face with regards to police funding before we make our final decisions on 22 February. What is certain, is that due to the economic climate, reductions in the Coalition Government’s funding for policing…

Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1348860/Driving-hours-night-bad-wheel-drunk.html#ixzz1BbMUlBP8 Now experts who carried out the research want governments to impose a maximum two-hour limit on continuous night-time driving in a bid to curb accidents and death rates. It is estimated that one-fifth of all traffic accidents are due to sleepiness behind the wheel. One in three motorists admits to nodding off while driving at night. I would be well up for this. no more than 2 hours driving at a time. Show me standing down from patrol, sleepy time.

http://cms.met.police.uk/news/convictions/men_jailed_for_limehouse_shooting Intriguing reading I thought, especially as you have both groups with access to firearms and both groups being caught and sent down for it (apart from the second bike rider).
