I know I'm probably being very naive but I've just been told that PSD in our force (and elsewhere) regularly check people's social network pages such as Facebook and Twitter. I thought they may check things if there was a problem but I didn't think they would be interested enough to be spot checking these? As you know the force has a change programme running called Vision Wiltshire. The most recent meeting of the Specials Board confirmed that the special constabulary need to be part of this process in order to ensure they are fully included in the new force operating model including the hub policing model. Specials Superintendent Richard Bellamy and Ch. Insp DEEGAN will be drafting an updated patrol strategy for the specials explaining how we fit in to the hub model and how they are deployed locally. From having a brief look at the schedule it does not appear to have been updated since 2009. Furthermore, do Special Constables still do their attestation in week 5 and not at the end when training has been completed? Thanks!

I've been doing some local history stuff recently (well the nights are drawing in aren't they ). I've been looking at some documents in the heritage centre in Chippenham and I'm getting stuck in relation to police locations. Firstly I'm looking for Meredith house which I think is somewhere in Swindon but I can't find it listed anywhere and can't google it.. Don't know if it's an alternative name for Gablecross or is it the old name for Westlea station which was demolished? Also, I'm looking for the old stables (I didn't know Wiltshire had stables or a mounted section?) but I'm told they were by 'the Palace' and heaven only knows where that it? Wiltshire has had contact from two UK forces considering the introduction of an exam (probably multiple choice similar to the OSPRE Sgt's exam) for first line specials supervisors. We have been asked to work on a pilot specials sergeants exam. The drivers behind this seem to be: 1. Increased alignment to regular supervisor processes and integration with the regular force 2. To provide reassurance to regular colleagues that specials supervisors have some tested knowledge before being promoted 3. A number of specials have been asking for sight of one of the documents referred to in the recent Chief's roadshows. This is Standards of professional behaviour for police officers which sets out what is required of officers (regular and specials) under Police Regulations. Around 75 officers took part in Operation HURDLE at Buckley Barracks last spring, testing the force readiness for Olympic cover duties in 2012. This provided a realistic, safe learning environment in which to simulate typical incidents ranging from shoplifting to domestic violence. Since that time, many specials who were in training at the time have asked whether we will be repeating the event to give newer officers an opportunity to participate. Hi I was just wondering when and why are people cuffed in certain handcuffing positions? Also why do some officers cuff the person and hold on to the black plastic part of the cuffs while the suspect walks into the police car/van? Also, does Blonde Rachael still work for Salisbury? She has come on nightwatch and itv 4 on the program "The Force". I find her very attractive lol

A force spokesman said significantly more drivers had been stopped compared to 2009 but the number failing or refusing a breath test had fallen. He said he believed the high number of checks acted as a deterrent to many. "The aim of this year's campaign was to highlight the dangers of drink-driving," the police spokesman said. Thought it was time for an update and huge thank you. Today I went to the drugs and alcohol test at HQ and was told that I was through the process and had been assigned my collar number which will be sent to me in due course. Intake 14 are due to start training first week in September. It's has been a long but very very worthwhile process that has challenged at every turn. I'd like to thank everyone in the Wilts area on here for the help and the general forum has really helped me through (as well make me really want the end of training to come).
