Hi all, I've just applied for the Specials in WIltshire and was wondering if someone more knowledgable than I could help with a few queries I have. A) I'm in the TA, my unit are ok with me joining the sepcials and I know you're allowed but how is this viewed in Wiltshire? Is it a good or bad thing? B) Once you've sent out your application how long do they generally take to get back to you? C) Having looked at the website I gather training will probably take place in Devizes, is this always the case? For example would it start there and then move out to my nearest station? D)On a similiar theme to the point above, were I to get through the selection process (lots of to…

Please keep the following date free in your diary for the Chief Constable's Parade 2011. The event will take place on Saturday 12th November at St John's School, Marlborough. Details of the event, booking procedures and further details will be sent to all specials in due course. If you are free to attend on this date please keep it free. This year should be the best in recent years as many of our newer recruits receive their independent patrol certficates

Today I had my fitness test for the specials at HQ, as far as I'm aware first in a very long time. All three of us that attended passed both medical and fitness including (handscomb), the staff were very good and explained anything and with a general level of fitness anyone can do it. Just waiting for vetting to complete now with a view to starting in September. All started to seem very real as I walked back from the fitness test into the canteen.

Hopefully someone can help, I have just recieved my interview pass confirmation, I am after some clarification as to the requirement for eyesight levels to drive a police vehicle. I pass the test to get into the specials just, is it a higher level or a test just to make sure you are the level the form says you are at? Thanks in advance J

Hi Guys, Hopefully my transfer from TVP to Wiltshire in on the cards now, and eventually I will be asked where I would like to be based, and this, for me, is quite a tricky decision. Therefore any input you may have would be greatly appreciated! I'm still getting to grips with the whole E & D Divisional structure in Wiltshire, but as I understand it; D is Swindon, and E is pretty much everything else in Wiltshire. I live in (or just on the outskirts) of Swindon, but was contemplating going for an E Division posting. I am becoming wary of travelling times as this was one of the mitigating factors in my move to Wiltshire. Could anyone advise me on the closer stations…

Hi Guys, Im currently an SC in Thames Valley, based in Buckinghamshire BCU, which is currently where I am at university. In approx 4-6 weeks I will be returning to my homeland (SN5) and am quite interested in how a transfer would potentially work out for me. I have looked at a transfer to the stations closest to the Wilts/TVP border, but this would still mean approx 1 hour commute. Although the continuation will be good, I cant help but feel the need to understand how things could potentially work for me if I were to look at a transfer to Wiltshire Police. I have read your pinned topics and they have been a great help, but if there are members on here that are part …

Came home today to find a letter waiting for me from Devizes. Instantly knew it was from the police and opened it very slowly. Happy to say though they want me to attend a PIRT on 14th May (seems very soon) and that if you pass that, in the afternoon you will have an interview. So the questions i have is 1. Does anyone else from here have a test on 14th May. 2. They give you an small test in the letter. I assume the real one is bigger (how long it is roughly?) and do prepare what advice can you give me. 3. It says to bring a passport and a utility bill for ID. Does a mobile telephone bill pass i know some companies don't accept them i think.

Hi Guys I've have just taken the first step in applying for the specials and requested the forms that need to be filled out, as well as going to the opticians on Saturday and having one very nerve racking eye test (i just passed unaided) easily passed aided test. My question is if you have to fill out the eye site requirement form and take it to a fully trained optician do you then have to take another test? As the optician made me worried when she said the Snellen chart disadvantages people that always wear glasses somehow :/. Also is there still no fitness test? I’m sure I’d pass but I am just interested if Wiltshire has come into line with other forces in respect …

Just a couple of questions whilst i wait for my application form to arrive. I know that the specials usually train on Wed evening (any times would be helpful) or Weekend but where about. I assume that it is at Wiltshire HQ at Devizes. Is there a fitness test as part of the application as I heard they were meant to be introducing one but i can't seem to find a definitive answer. Also assuming that i pass everything when are the intakes? That's all i've got at the moment but i'm sure they're will be more. Thanks

Whilst driving to my uniform fitting this morning (approx 9:45) I was passed by a motorcade of 3 police motorbikes, a patrol car, then 2 BMW/Audi types, another patrol car and finally a last motorbike. The bikes all had blue lights flashing. Any idea who this was or could have been?
