Hi everyone, I'm currently in the process of joining SWP as a PCSO. I've wanted to join the Police ever since I graduated from Uni in 2007 but I became very engrossed in my current career (can't believe where 6 years have gone!) but now I have taken the opportuity to apply as a PCSO as a way of starting my career within the Police Service. Is there a "probation" period for PCSO's before being able to apply for internal vacancies as a PC? I appreciate the argument that if you want to join as a PC then why not join as a PC but I've always assumed that new PC roles are usually filled internally from the PCSO, Specials and Police Staff ranks.

Hey everyone how hard are the knowledge checks that you have in the first 9 weeks of training (classroom part)

Hi guys I got my pirt test on the 15th of August for the interview and initial recruitment test I am rally nervous as its only two weeks away can any f you who have been successful give me any pointers in to what I should expect. Hello, I was just wondering... what equipment and uniform are standard issue to SWP PCSOs and what specifically has to/should be bought otherwise?

Just wondering if any one can tell me the stages of PCSO? I applied a few weeks ago, and recieved an email this morning asking for photos of my tatto. tried emailing the photos but recieved this back: The recipient's mailbox is full and can't accept messages now. Please try resending this message later, or contact the recipient directly. :/ will phone tomorrow and see if there is another email address. what stage is this? am i miles off knowing wether or not I have a chance of getting in? Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice or has gone through something similar to me? This week I received the dreaded letter informing me that my vetting results were unsatisfactory so I have now been dismissed from the PCSO application. To say I'm heartbroken is an understatement; especially being so close to starting!! What I don't understand is that I am squeaky clean and never been in trouble with the police in my life. Financial status is fine too. Some relatives such as my step dad have minor offences from the past, however I don't live with them and have very little contact with them. Hey all. Thought I would try and get a topic going to find out who might be on my course for training. I have got my start date as the 28th January at Mount Pleasant Campus in Swansea. Anyone else on the same course travelling from Newport/Cardiff way? Also for anyone who may have already done their training at mount pleasant campus where is the best place to park? Hi. Just curious. Obv iv read about PCSO powers in South Wales as it states them on their website. However i was wondering whether or not there are more powers that PCSOs in South Wales have that are not stated on the force website and whether or not more powers, like Dyfed-Powys' new powers to detain and to tackle ASB, will be granted in near future? Just trying to get more of an understanding on the powers that PCSOs have in South Wales. Thanks
