Hello! Has anyone applied for the current PCSO positions???

Seems that there are a few bits of new kit floating around at the moment- namely a new style fleece and trousers, new body armour and fancy embroidered epaulettes. So who has managed to get what...and any ideas if we are all going to be re-issued with the new styles??

Was just wondering if anyone knew what is carried out altogether in the SWP medical for PCSO's? Also what drug testing do they carry out...for example is it just a urine test? Was just curious as I have heard mixed views.

Just a quick question... Understanding the dire financial situation at present - Does anybody know if S.W.P will be open for the recruitment of Specials during next year? If my info is correct, March is usually the period recruitment is opened? Advice anyone please? Or should I not hold too much hope on this? Thanks...

I live in South Wales but close to the Gwent border. Can anyone offer any pro's and con's to living and working in the same or different force area? Gwent are recruiting but there seems to be a back log of applicants for SWP. Any opinions appreciated!!!

I'm currently a SC in Hertfordshire (sunny old England for the Welsh) and next year, possibly year after, I may be moving to Swansea or Cardiff. Because of this, I'd be interested in applying for SWP and either getting a transfer or applying if/when recruitment opens. Do SWP do a ride along scheme? I'd like to contact them and try get out on a few shifts with them to get an idea of what it's like Policing in the area and also how their Specials are used.

I have a quick question I am currently joining the met as a special but at some point I would like to move across to Wales and subsequently transfer to south wales police, how ever I heard in a tv program that you have to also speak welsh in order to get in? (if so I May start learning now ) Thanks Dan

When is the next likely recruitment drive and application intake for S.W.P Specials? I've heard on the grapevine there is a potential application intake/recruitment drive planned for Christmas 2011? If anyone can give any solid confirmation or advice it would be greatly appreciated, thanks...

Hi everyone, It was always my dream to have a career in the police, but no matter what I do and try to do to make myself a more attractive candidate I ALWAYS fail at the first hurdle. I have logged two previous Special Constable applications with S.W.P, and I failed both - It's the competency based questions that get me every single time, and I can't help but think I will never be successful.
