I've applied to the new policing course at UCLAN (information here) and I just wondered if any of you had heard of it and / if you were planning on doing it. I also have a few questions about the Special Constable interview, if you're allowed to answer them that is! Also some questions about being a Special. I've read that there will be a roleplay situation. What happens in this? What kind of situations will I be put in? Providing I am appointed as a Special Constable, how can I expect to be treated in Lancashire? I've been talking to a former Special Constable from Sussex and he said that…

Hi, My four weekends of training are fast approaching, however if I am successful and everything goes to plan how regular is training then onwards? I've seen posts saying there are 23 weekends worth of training after the initial training - could someone clarify or does it vary from force to force? My specific force would be Lancashire.

Hi, I've been helping my team get started with their community project . I've created a template document for the community project report, some tips and ideas on what to include and some useful information sources for council/population/crime data for Lancashire areas that might be useful to others in the same situation. I've held several PDP mentoring sessions with my officers where we focus on outstanding PDP actions and get started on the community project. I've found that getting started is the hardest part but then it's easy going. In the interest of helping fellow officers, If anyone wants the info please drop me a line to the constabulary email and i'll send the…

Hey all, I'm due to send in my specials application tomorrow and just wondering how soon i may hear back? How quickly do they have you in for medicals etc? and is the medical on the same day as the fitness test etc? It would be great if somebody could fill me in on the procedure and in which order the said "vetting"...lol will be done. Many thanks, Kelly. x :new_yummy: Ps....do Lancashire have a women's rugby/cricket team?

Hello, I have my assessment centre with Lancs tomorrow. I am a little nervous but feel as though I have done enough to prepare in advance! Hopefully all will go well and the next hurdle will be the small matter of the interview! Out of interest, anyone else at the assessment centre tomorrow? Montana

Hey all, I'm just about to submit my Application and had some thoughts about the medical or the BMI side of things really... do you know how strict they are on this? I am considered overweight for my height, but im fit and very strong (for a lass) and will pass the fitness test with no problems i'm sure of that. I play Rugby League and Cricket and attend the gym on a regular basis too. I'm no skinny minni and have never been so and if i got down to my "ideal" or expected wight for my height i wouldnt ever be able to eat again...lol Its just totally unrealistic. Im very in proportion for my height and dont look my weight at all! Im 5ft 9 and have a BMI of 34 I fully…

Evening All, I'm currently a Northumbria SC and due to my personal circumstances may be moving to Lancashire within the next few weeks. Obviously working within the Police has become a big part of my life since I joined and is not something I want to give up. I was wondering if anyone has experience with transferring from another force to Lancs. Police? Is it a case of redoing all training and starting from scratch? I have a fair bit of operational experience and do not want to have to spend weeks in a class room before I'm allowed back out on the streets. The only areas I can see myself needing any sort of training input are Lancs. radio etiquette and your force sys…
