I realise there are no definitive answers, and I must ask the force in question, however: After failing a specials application at the vetting stage - through no fault of my own whatsoever I have an existing application with Merseyside, which is under review. If they go ahead, am I likely to fail that too considering its in another force..? The vetting was for family, none for me or anyone in my house. They wouldnt provide specifics but it is obvious to me where the problem lies. Dont want it to be the end of a career for me through no fault of my own.. Hopefully Merseyside will continue on with their recruitment.. Cheers

could you tell me if special's have the power to stop a moving vehicle with blues as i have been chatting to one sc in THEMES VALLEY.. He said they cant do it any more until they have had another one day (stopping vehicle test)?... as i'm not a special yet just wondered???????

Hello to the forum! Having passed my medical today, And presuming my father isn't an axe murderer or something I am currently in the recruitment process to be a special in lancashire. I am now looking forward to it more since I feel I'm coming to the end of the process. However, I am a lowly student and am just wondering if all kit and equipment is supplied by the force for specials? and what you actually get supplied with?(like a list) providing this doesn't break any rules. I am also curious as reading through all the different forums each force seems to give different equipment and some things like boots need to be bought by the individual. Cheers Neil

Hi Guys, Now that im getting close to the end of the recruiment process and if there is no more glitches should be on the intake in january. I was hoping one of you lot would have some more information on Skelmersdale? As that is where im going to be based thought i would try and find out what its like. Hi all, I'm a special across the other side of the pennines and might be moving across to lancashire in the coming year. I wondered if i could ask a few questions from you inhabitant of the Lancashire area? I am already an authorised response and initial pursuit driver- can specials in Lancashire drive response if they have completed the course and in my case an assesed drive on transfer? Do you have a grade structure? I am a specials traffic officer and work with RPU regularly - is there any such systems in place in Lancs or do you only work with Beat / Response? Just wondering if you get buy extra uniform for stores at Hutton or get the same spec uniform online? I am a Special and we only get one pair of combat pants which is awkward if you are doing a few shifts in a week and you end up on your arse down a muddy hill when involved in a foot chase. How does the shift rota work for Lancs?

Hi All: Has any one heard from Lancashire as to when they will be processing applications? I'm aware that the whole of England and Wales has been put on hold due to numbers although each force is giving various reasons. I'm awaiting the vetting and background checks. I had my medical on 18th Aug and rang Lancs recruitment at the beginning of Sept and was told that things are on hold due to numbers. Has anyone had any news or in the same boat? I heard there is an intake in January? Rotty
