Just a question of interest. Do US Police Forces and Sheriffs Departments employ Civilains in the capacity of 'Auxiliary Police', and what powers, if any, do those 'Auxiliary Police' have'. Are they uniformed? Also being a fan of the 'CSI Miami' and 'CSI Las Vagas' TV programmes, do Forensic Civilian Staff actually have the choice of carry a 'Glock' sidearm when on duty. I have a friend here in Britian whose son is a CSI employed by the LAPD, however he does not carry a weapon when on duty... a personal choice of someone who was born and raised in the UK, but who is now a US Citizen.

Well i've decided i've had enough of the weather, the politics, the woeful attempts to cut bureacracy and pretty much all that goes with it and have decided after a good long think and discussion with the miissus that i am going to look to transfer 'over there'!! Anyone help me with ideas of when recruitment drives will be happening and what the process will be like? Before you all start shouting i know its probably just as bad over there but i have other easons for wanting to go as well so indulge me please. I'm pretty sure i'll have to start again so to speak and be a probationer for 3 years but think i can handle this! Chris.

Sounds like a nice little job and Assistant Chief Constable Bob Dyson appears to be well qualified. I wonder how he will cope with The Ashes result, given that he will be in for quite a stir from the Aussies. Hi all, What did those that attended the Canadian High Commission think of the Calgary PS's testing and information sessions recently? I've just completed mine and was pretty impressed, on the whole. Not promising to chang your world or that Calgary was some kind of utopia, but the seesions seemed pretty straight-down-the-line... as for the testing I'm not saying ...

US Cops Continue Studying Counterterrorism in Israel By Jim Kouri, CPP on Jul 26, 2006 A private US-Israeli company, Security Solutions International, is responding to the need for better quality training by sponsoring a training missions to Israel for US law enforcement and security officers. I am seriously considering applying for the NZ Police. Does anyone have any information on their pay scales. I want to go for quality of life but I don't want to struggle financially. I know that about 70 odd UK officers transfered early 2003. I'd be interested to know how they got on and what arrangements were made regarding rate of pay, skills etc etc Any info would be helpful Thanks

Hi are there any UK officers or former Uk officers who know of a British officer successfully joining a police service in Europe (EU), I mean France, Germany, Spain etc. How did they do this? does anyone out there know of any good non-police (ie Privave Sector) opportunities available to UK officers in Europe? I am interested in relocating to the Continent and would be interested in hearing especially from any former UK officers who have managed to get a good job with their police background.
