I recieved a letter last week confirming that Cheshire Constabulary had recieved my application and that i was successful. I am now through to the initial interview, assesment vetting stage. To be honest, i had given up hope around january as the letter that came with the form said i should get a response in around 11 weeks which took me to christmas but i heared nothing! I have a few further questions; I am quite a slim lad. I am training for the dyno machine test but i am worried about my body height/weight ratio. I know that it must fall within certain limits. My body mass index is 18.4. Could someone please clarify if this will be within the set limits? Ch…

I have 2 speeding tickets. One issued in Nov 2002 for driving 38 mph in a temporary 30 mph limit and one in 2004 for driving at 36 mph in a 30 mph limit. Will this mark me down in my application to join the force? I was given 3 points and a £60 fine each time.

Hello all, I am a 31 y/o male with 2 & a bit children (1 of the due next few months) My question is will my chances be effected the fact that I have dependents ?. Are there officers who are "applying" in my same boat ? A little introduction on me, I have worked as a team leader or a large internet company for 8 years prior to being made redundant. Prior to that all my jobs havealso been in travel and have been made redundant 3 times previous so travel is no more for me. I am applying to join the BTP and am still awaiting confirmation that my paper is acceptable to pass stage one, I have read many forums and look forward to your valued views, Bye for now. Si…

Hi all, I've had my application form filled since last November 2004 but have been waiting for one of my local foces to start recruiting (MPS / City / Kent / Essex). About a month ago I kept noticing that " BTP 150 places in the London area 6 months to start " advert on the PoliceCouldYou (well yes please, give us a job) website. I decided that I couldn't wait no more and filled in that final box thats been waiting six months for some ink with the words " British Transport Police (London) ". I posted my form off in April and am now officially in the application process. I got a letter back telling me I'm in the " paper sift ", just gotta wait and see. I'd be interes…

Hi all, Is it worth doing some pre-study before starting training? Apart from Miss Miller (I know you have done a fair bit), has anyone started studying any form of law before basic training???? If so, any good books, CD's etc.......... Is it worth it, and does it helps loads???? Or not as much as you thought???

If you have the option of going onto an IntoBlue course 2 months before the Assessment Centre or 2 weeks before, which one would you choose? If it's too early do you forget the techniques taught etc, and if it's nearer the Assessment Centre do you have enough time to practice what you have learnt from the course? #-o When is the right time!? I'd appreciate your thoughts. dada

Is the fitness (particulary the bleep test) relevant to the job? As the bleep test is supposed to represent prolonged pursuits, shouldnt the test be more like an asault course format, with the odd low wall or fence to negociate. I'm not quite sure that most foot pursuits dont involve gardens and walls/fences and the like, however if the situation arose and you were unable to successfully carry out the pursuit, it may be dangerous/embarassing. I imagine I'm way off the mark here, just interested in what everyone else thought....

I am still experiencing pain in my right knee 8 days after playing football. Cant work out exactly where the pain is and its starting to really annoy me. Have been unable to train for over a week and am worried about my fitness levels dropping. Could this pain be arthritis or knee ligament damage or is it likely to be something else? I only have to pass the physical and push pull test and I will be in the force. What sport can I safely do to keep fit? Also should I see my Doctor or a Physio about my knee or not? Will it go against me for joining the Police. Please help as my knee is really worrying me now. Thanks.

I would love any feedback on my answers to the competency questions. Having read up on what other people have said this is what I have come up with: Q1 It is very important that police officers deliver an excellent service and develop goo working releationships with members of the public i) Describe the situation and tell us clearly why you think they were unhappy. Whilst working in at Dixons a customer came in with a complaint about her new computer. She kept saying that it had been miss sold and was demanding a refund. I asked her to calm down and explain to me exactly what the problem with the machine is, as I was unable to help her whilst she was shouting and …
