Spanish Police have released striking pictures of a huge weapons haul seized from an organised crime group. It includes over 10,000 assault rifles, machine guns, pistols, revolvers, and 400 shells and grenades. The guns and ammunition were seized in January during an operation against firearms trafficking. Investigators also found an illegal workshop with machinery to manipulate and reactivate weapons, near Bilbao. Five people were arrested. Cash amounting to 80,000 euros (£70,000 / $85,000) was seized. The operation involved counter-terror police from Madrid, Bilbao, Valencia and Gerona. Europol, which supported the investigation, sa…

Police in a German town are heading to McDonald's to collect fast food for people in their custody cells after a catering contract fell through. Those being held at the police station in Bergisch-Gladbach near Cologne can choose between a hamburger, cheeseburger or veggie burger from the fast food chain, which has an outlet across the road, the Express newspaper reports. There's also a "McToast" breakfast option for those waking up after a night in the cells. The more substantial burgers are off-limits, according to Express, as they're too pricey for the police budget. The force says it's an interim solution which became necessary when its normal supplier - which …

A French police sniper has accidentally shot and injured two people during a speech by President Hollande. Mr Hollande was inaugurating a new stretch of railway in the town of Villognon in western France when gunfire was heard. A waiter and a worker attending the event were slightly wounded, one in the ankle the other on the leg, according to local media. One local report said the safety catch was unlocked and the gun discharged. The shot interrupted the speech for a few moments, but reports say there was no panic. "I hope it's nothing serious. I think not," Mr Hollande said as he paused his address to ask whether anyone had been hurt. Offici…

Commuter films moment an innocent woman breaks her LEG after an aggressive police dog pushes her onto train tracks http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4179646/Woman-breaks-LEG-police-dog-pushes-tracks.html Probably why we have the "stay behind the yellow lines" - best not to get too close to police dogs and don't go round them on the platform side!

I was watching this video and found it rather interesting: Long story short it shows a video of US police using taser where there seems to be a reluctance from officers to go hands on and take control of a suspect in order to gain compliance. Now generally over here in the UK in my experience the culture is very much to take control of a suspect once the decision to detain, arrest or eject has been made, often I've found if someone is perhaps verbally resisting they will continue to verbally shout at you but will let you walk them away, handcuff them etc with maybe a little struggle but nothing more than that for the most part (unless you end up properly in…
