A notorious gangster has escaped from prison in France in a helicopter flown by three armed accomplices, authorities have said. Victoria Police has said a group of officers filmed pinning and hosing down a Melbourne disability pensioner "clearly need to be called into account". Full story I think (as usual) there is plenty being missed out here, though the officers' comments on the video certainly don't help them. The news reporter in the video is of course trying to stir the pot as usual, saying that because only 1 in 10 complaints against police are upheld therefore there needs to be a new system. Do they not grasp how many nonsense complaints come in?

A police union in New York is reportedly cutting back on the number of so-called "get out of jail free" cards given to friends and family. So what are these cards for? The Patrolmen's Benevolent Association (PBA) is reducing how many cards are issued to members, according to the New York Post. A source told the Post the cutback was ordered to prevent the cards' sale online. A man has been arrested after an alleged "swatting" prank call led to police shooting dead a 28-year-old man. Andrew Finch was shot at his front door on 28 December in Wichita, Kansas.
