How childish by suggesting officers may be publicly named for selling a medal. Did these senior officers not see how many Golden Jubilee medals were flogged on eBay when they were first issued. Police officers selling medals awarded to them by the Queen to mark her Diamond Jubilee are "disrespectful", police chiefs have said. The medals were given to officers with five full years of service and have attracted eBay bids of more than £100. One force said it may publicly name any officer found to be selling the medal. A Police Federation spokesman said he was disappointed but thought the action may be the result of officers feeling neglected by the government. In the UK,…

A CRACKDOWN on nuisance drivers has seen almost 100 road users dealt with by police. The Road Policing Unit’s Special Constabulary ran their second Impact event in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, this month targeting anti-social vehicle behaviour, speeding and vehicle-related crimes. Nearly 100 vehicles were dealt with for various road-related offences in the month-long operation throughout May. In total, 98 vehicles were stopped. This saw eight tickets given with a fine and penalty points, two tickets handed out for not wearing a seatbelt, 21 vehicles were given a warning notice for driving in an anti-social manner and were told if they were stopped again within 12 …

The author of a controversial review into police pay has been chosen as the preferred candidate to be the next Chief Inspector of Constabulary for England and Wales. Tom Winsor was selected by the Home Office, and will appear before the Home Affairs Select Committee next week, before final approval. These people do not have a clue.

Victims of crime in England and Wales should be able to track the progress of their cases online, a think-tank says. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18327642 Nice idea, but who will be spending their time placing the hundreds of cases onto web site, I am guessing the Police. So much spare time with nothing to do.

A 37-year-old woman has been jailed after driving through Falkirk with a man clinging to the bonnet of her car. Suzanne Gilchrist was caught on CCTV driving her vehicle at 22-year-old Stuart Morris in June last year. Mr Morris, a passer-by, is seen holding on to the bonnet of the car as it weaves down several streets. At Stirling Sheriff Court, Gilchrist was given four years and three months in jail. Prosecutors said her driving could have led to Mr Morris's death. Sheriff Wyllie Robertson told Gilchrist that CCTV footage of the incident, which was played in court, showed "vividly" how she had put Mr Morris's life in danger. Emma White, prosecuting, said the incident …

I hears on the news that there is concern about European cup as the police in Ukraine are so corrupt and brutal. Their earnest response was that they have been addressing these issues by taking lessons from their British counterparts. I feel a Daily Maul headline brewing...

PC Carl Bugg tackled 19-year-old Kerri May Wood to the ground in October last year in Queen's Gardens in the centre of Hull. PC Bugg was uninjured although Wood managed to fire twice. Recorder Simon Jackson QC ordered Wood, of Cherry Garth, Beverley, to be detained in a secure hospital. The CCTV is thought provoking. http://www.bbc.co.uk...humber-18296884
