Can you imagine the scene? It's a tense stand-off outside a foreboding derelict house. Inside a desperate gunman holds a terrified hostage to ransom. Outside the police cordon flutters in the wind while the blue flashing lights illuminate the oppressive night sky and the world's media are herded behind barriers, their cameras trained on the house watching the drama unfold. Then, out of the darkness, a police car screeches into view and out steps the superintendent with a megaphone. Is this the grizzled, battle hardened copper we all recognise from endless Sunday night TV dramas and Hollywood blockbusters? Is this the cross between Gene Hunt and Inspector Morse who'…

Is this a case of Sour Grapes because he didn't get a recommend for ACC. There should never be positive descrimination for any job, it's should always be the best man for the job. Perhaps the reason that there are not many black Chief Officers, is that they are not as good as they think they are. Just think Dezaei(a bent crook, who should never have got in the job in the first place) and Gaffur, plus one or two others who didn't get as high up the ladder as they thought they should. Mike Fuller was a good Chief and got where he did on ability, and not by playing the race card as so many try. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/9846515/Senior-Met-Polic…

http://www.publicser...ry.asp?id=22070 http://www.publicser...ry.asp?id=22070 John Dear appears to have touched a nerve somwehere on Hugh Orde. Most people would agree with some of Lord Dears comments, but not on others. He talks about quality, does the names Price, , Bonnard, Ali Dezaei, and two others who committed suicide over wrong doings, ring any bells, they were supposed to be quality and look where it got them. Why does Orde have such an obsession about University Degrees, they are alright if they also come with common sense, which often they don't. University degrees do not always make 'good coppers, whereas 'common sense' does most of the time. Two of…

I picked this up from twitter, and I thought it worth sharing with you all because of what Warwickshire PCC Ron Ball says about policing in the 21st Century. A very heartening statement for all of us and he makes some very good points. http://onlinenews.warwickshire.police.uk/wpnews_pressrelease/rss/15044?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

For those interested in history, this is quite a considerable find, but on a lighter note, the speaker of the house John Bercow may be talking to the remains later today because he is used to talking to empty skulls after all.
