Edit: to add link; http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2300838/Six-point-penalty-using-mobile-wheel-And-ban-drivers-caught-twice-says-UKs-police-chief.html#socialLinks I completely agree. It's ridiculous the amount of people who blatantly use mobiles whilst driving and it's definitely on the increase, so obviously the current penalties are an ineffective deterrent. Some days I seem to see more drivers on their phones than without seat belts.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/7224051/Police-unable-to-save-girl-from-icy-river-because-of-health-and-safety.html - It doesn't look to me as if Police Officers were unable to save anyone, Insp Kent and Sgt Stayte ignores H & S and went in the freezing cold water and saved a child, The headline was made to make it look as if nobody did anything for 97 minutes which is far from the truth. They should have checked out the incident properly before making such headlines.

Police officers dressed in animal onesies arrested a violent man (Picture: Twitter / @SolihullPolice) Two off-duty police officers went beyond the call of duty after arresting a violent man while dressed in animal onesies. The Solihull Police duo may not have been dressed exactly for the occasion but the element of surprise was to their advantage when a man in the street became threatening earlier this week. Dressed as a zebra and monkey, the officers wrestled the man to the ground before he was taken away in a panda car. A picture of the crime fighters was posted on the official Solihull Police Twitter account with a detailed account of the arrest.http://metro.co.uk/…

http://metro.co.uk/2013/03/27/are-cardboard-cut-outs-the-traffic-officers-of-the-future-3562503/ A traffic officer that works 24 hours a day and never gets tired may sound like something from the future but it actually exists today, in the form a cardboard cut-out in India. The new type of low-tech policeman can be found in Bangalore and from early reports is sounds like theyre doing one heck of a job. Impact has been quite good. A lot of people when they see from a little distance, they immediately turn back, additional commissioner of police Dr MA Saleem said. In fact one auto driver was found talking to that person. The move comes after an increase in the number o…

Britain's most senior police officer has backed higher penalties for drivers who use their mobile phone at the wheel. Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, said the only way to curb the still high numbers of people phoning whilst driving is to take a tougher line. He said the penalt…
