Police are treating the disappearance of a five-year-old girl in Powys as a suspected abduction. April Jones was playing with friends near her home in Machynlleth but was seen getting into a grey or light coloured van at 19:00 BST on Monday. Around 200 people helped in a search of streets, farmland and woodland through the night. April was last seen wearing a purple knee-length coat with a fur hood, white school polo top and black trousers. The Ysgol Gynradd Machynlleth pupil had been playing on her bicycle with friends near her home on the Bryn-y-Gog estate. Dyfed-Powys Police said all the witnesses to her suspected abduction were children. Det Supt Reg Bevan said getti…

Not sure what others views on things like this are, but I see this as a reason to why you should report a stolen phone and give the position of it to the police rather than go after it yourself. Needless loss of life here in my opinion, lets just hope the sentence given is appropriate. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-22697555

The police are doing a better job than they were ten years ago but budget cuts are the major concern for the public, a new poll has claimed. The survey by OnePoll PR Week and found 35 per cent of 2,000 people canvassed felt the police were doing a better job than last decade, compared to 19 per cent who disagreed with the statement. Nearly half of all respondents (48 per cent) felt the relationship between the police and the media was too close, but 57 per cent agreed or strongly agreed that the police service had a good reputation, with 36 per cent saying it had improved in the last ten years despite major controversies such as Hillsborough, phone-hacking and ‘Pleb-gat…

Moment gangsters on bicycles opened fire on police officers in unmarked car This is the dramatic moment three thugs opened fire on an unmarked police car as they hunted down rival gang members. Ricardo Miles, 21, Daniel Ikumelo, 23, and Adebola Alimi, 22, cycled through the streets of Hackney, east London, armed with a gun searching for enemies in a gangland feud. When an unmarked police car pulled up alongside the trio, Miles turned and fired the .45 revolver at the officers. Fortunately the bullet hit the ground in front of the vehicle. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-22673720 What does everyone think? I take it the tracking won't be live although it doesn't specifically state that. Positive for the community to be reassured that officers are in fact patrolling the streets or a negative that it may risk officer safety?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2013/may/25/woolwich-attack-islam Really hope this doesn't become a self-fulfilling prophecy. If folk think it's inevitable, I reckon they're more likely to get involved.

Police officers will be forced to name any friends who work in the media, or else face the sack, under new guidelines published on Monday.Every officer in England and Wales will have to formally declare any friendship outside his workplace with a journalist, effectively meaning that people working in media organisations would be placed in the same bracket as criminals. Many police forces already require their officers and staff to declare any 'associations' with criminals, suspects or private detectives. Officers who fail to report friendships, and are judged to have concealed the relationship, could now face dismissal for gross misconduct. The move will alarm censorsh…
