Dale Cregan murders: Routine 999 call ended in officers' slayingOn arrival at Hyde police station Cregan said: "I've murdered two police officers" It was a seemingly routine call-out to a housing estate in Greater Manchester - the type police officers attend every day. There was nothing to suggest it would end up in the execution-style shooting of two unarmed female police officers on the quiet estate. Identifying himself as Adam Gartree, the caller dialled 999 telling police operators someone had thrown a concrete slab through the back window of his house on Abbey Gardens, Mottram and run off. But, that caller was in fact Britain's most wanted man Dale Cregan, 29, who w…

The Government were willing to pay me for 16hrs a day minimum + £80 a night going to Ireland the fed were already on a winning position when they entered negotiations. I've now just found out that I'm only getting the £80 because the Fed wouldn't agree to anything? How on earth could they screw so badly? I'm beginning to think they're now more of a liability than they're worth! PS I didn't agree to go to G8 for the money but let's be honest its never a bad thing to be given more!

Riot vans and around 100 police officers are in central London as G8 demonstrators take over a former police station in Soho.Protesters with banners have gathered at a former police station in Beak Street ahead of the two-day G8 summit in Northern Ireland next week. The move by police came as protesters from the group Stop G8 planned a "Carnival Against Capitalism" in central London, with a march from midday followed by a street party on Piccadilly Circus at 5.30pm. LBC 97.3's Tom Swarbrick reports from outside the building: "One hundred plus riot police are surrounding a building on Beak Street which is being occupied by protesters. "One man is standing on the roof an…

Majority of police files for court are inadequate, report finds Nine in ten police reports for prosecutors are inadequate, forcing delays in court cases, while some officers do not understand what a “key witness” is, a study has found. Important information is often left out of the files even though they are a crucial document for prosecutors to present a case in court, the joint report by the HM inspectorates for constabulary and the Crown Prosecution Service found. It reviewed 40 files, of which only three – or 7.5 per cent – were deemed adequate in terms of providing a summary of the evidence. One issue, the report said, was that there was a “distinct lack of un…
