I see Forces are publishing results of these hearings & past results for the last 5yrs, on their websites. I know the system has changed as CCs do not chair it now. I have just looked at some results and there is a big difference in outcomes. Misconduct Hearings this year 8 = 6 x final written warnings, 1 x dismissed & 1 x not proven. Previous 4 yrs cases 26 = 17 x dismissed & 9 resigned before hearing. What a difference, what does that say about the previous system!

Crackdown: Met chief Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe at New Scotland Yard with some of the seized weapons PA Police recovered 714 guns in London last year, the highest total for five years, it was revealed today. The figure — an increase of 23 per cent on the previous year — emerged as Scotland Yard warned of a rise in the availability of firearms in the capital, fuelling fears they could fall into the hands of terrorists. Detectives believe criminals are using a variety of methods to smuggle weapons into the UK, including by post and on cross-Channel routes with guns being sourced in eastern Europe. They say there has been a significant rise in the number of shootings in L…

Police chiefs are struggling to recruit enough officers willing to carry a gun to tackle a Paris-style terror attack, because they fear they will be treated as criminal suspects if they use their weapon in the line of duty, the country’s top firearms officer has warned. Deputy chief constable Simon Chesterman said potential recruits were being deterred because of fears they could spend years under investigation after a decision to fire on a suspect. http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/may/15/police-chiefs-struggling-recruit-armed-officers-conviction-fears I know for sure our force is struggling to attract enough recruits just to keep pace with natural w…

Radical action is needed to tackle the "shocking" under-representation of black and minority ethnic (BME) people in police forces in England and Wales, the Home Affairs committee has warned. No force in England and Wales had a BME representation which matched its local demographic, the group of MPs said. They said a "diversity champion" should be appointed to hold forces to account. The College of Policing said it was tackling the problem and had issued "bespoke" action plans to each force. Home Secretary Theresa May said diversity in policing was "not an optional extra", and forces must do more. How does your force rank for ethnic diversity? How do you change the…
