A POLICEMAN whose forensic work resulted in 70 arrests was one of 17 to be commended at a ceremony in Workington Detective Constable Andy Yoxall processed 283 forensic hits during six months in west Cumbria, leading to the arrest of scores of suspects. Apology over Pc 'killer' report A Met police officer has accepted a public apology over a false claim that he ran down and killed a teenage thief. Mischa Niering, 19, died when his scooter hit a parked car as police chased him after a jewel robbery in Sloane Square, central London, in 2005. National News Press and Photographic Agency reported that Pc Gorbakhsh Singh told an inquest he "ran down" Niering. The agency accepted that its report was inaccurate and defamatory and agreed at the High Court to pay Mr Singh's costs. Both officers deny the charge A police officer killed a motorist when he lost control of his car on the bend of a country road after hitting speeds of 104mph (167km/h), a court heard. Pc Sean Schofield was driving a marked Volvo on an exercise when he hit the oncoming VW Touran driven by Peter Williams, Liverpool Crown Court heard. Inquiry into Met racism concerns Boris Johnson chairs the Metropolitan Police Authority London Mayor Boris Johnson is to order an inquiry into concerns raised about alleged racism faced by ethnic minority officers in the Metropolitan Police. It comes after the Metropolitan Black Police Association (BPA) said it would discourage black and Asian potential recruits from applying to the force. Four Sussex police officers have been treated in hospital after they were assaulted in two unconnected incidents. In the first, two female and one male officer suffered concussion, bites and grazes when a man became violent during a report of domestic violence in Hove. In the second, a male officer suffered a fractured wrist while restraining a man who had become aggressive at the Star and Sailor pub in Brighton.
