An Arizona inventor has been granted a patent on his Taser-proof fabric, which he intends to sell to police officers to protect them from villains toting electric stunguns. However, it has been argued that protective garments of this sort will in fact endanger policemen's lives. News of the patent for Greg Schultz's Thor Shield fabric comes to us courtesy of New Scientist, under the headline "Taser-proof clothing creates new hazard". Don't try the homie sideways-gun trick with one of these. The idea of Thor Shield - now to be distributed by US body-armour maker Point Blank - is to provide a protecting layer of conductive foil. Tasers work by using two separate probes…

Police officers have criticised the decision not to equip them with riot shields and helmets at this year's Notting Hill Carnival in August. Police were pelted with bottles in two stand-offs at the west London event, when 39 officers were injured. An officer wrote on the Police Federation website: "We as an organisation failed to protect ourselves from members of the public." The Metropolitan Police said it was examining feedback from the operation. 'Intent to injure' Police were attacked by about 180 youths at south London's Oval cricket ground as they stopped the group from going to the carnival on 25 August. Later officers were hit with bottles when they clashed …

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7656441.stm Couldnt find another topic, apologies if duplicate. A police union leader has called for all frontline officers to be armed with Taser stun guns. Northumbria Police Federation chairman Russ Watson said the move was a response to rising attack levels. Mr Watson said 179 officers had suffered assaults over the past 12 months in the Sunderland area alone. Amnesty International said Tasers, which deliver a 50,000 volt electric shock, should only be carried by trained firearms officers. "My wife is a disabled woman with Multiple Sclerosis and I recently took her to my own hospital to be fitted with an orthotic for her weak leg. On parking on front of the hospital, in a disabled space, she remarked that the large Volvo adjacent did not display a disabled badge. I foolishly indicated to the driver, who was sitting in his car, to lower his window and politely asked him whether he was a disabled person and , if so, why he had not displayed his badge. He replied with a torrent of abuse, which included many applications of the ‘f’ word. I explained that I was a consultant at the hospital and that I thought that his behaviour was very unfair. More applicati…

Hi, After watching a programme called Psychic Detectives last night, all about the tragic murder of Croydon teenage model Sally-Anne Bowman, well-known Psychics Colin Fry and Tony Stockwell did a reading with Sally's Mother(Linda) 3-4 months prior to Sally's murderer Mark Dixie was arrested and who was later charged with her murder and both Colin and Tony gave vital information about Dixie and what happened the night she was attacked which seemed that before his arrest, the Police at that time had no clue to her murderer. Its common knowledge that Dixie got arrested cause of a fight which led to him having his DNA taken and it was that which connected him to Sally's de…
