The fact that this person even decided to sue is beyond me, however, its good to see that just occasionally, judges do get it right! A recent case that may be of interest....MICHAEL HENRY v CHIEF CONSTABLE OF THAMES VALLEY POLICE (2009) Although a police officer had made an error of judgement by driving too close to a dismounting motorcyclist in order to effect his arrest, thereby causing him injury, that error of judgement did not amount to negligence. The court was required to determine liability in a claim for personal injury sustained by the claimant (H) in an accident involving a police car of the defendant force. H was riding his motorcycle at night. The police c…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11...te-culture.html A senior judge has warned of a rise in vigilante crimes caused by slow police response times. From this article i can see two reasons other then the one given by Richard Bray. "The judge is entitled to his opinion but it is one we do not share. In the case he refers to, the incident in question was not reported to us so we were not in a position to respond." Firstly "'Nobody bothers to phone the police any more" Maybe if they did ring the Police, things might get done. Secondly "Ian Smith was given a suspended jail sentence of 50 weeks and ordered to pay £1,000 to the victim. Jamie Smith received a 40-we…

'Grenade' brought to help desk A police headquarters had to be evacuated when a member of the public brought a suspected World War I hand grenade into the building. West Yorkshire police said the device was brought into the help desk area of Javelin House, Bradford, on Saturday. Members of the public were advised to avoid the area while the device was made safe. The building which was evacuated is the headquarters for the force's Bradford North division. source : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_yo...ire/8065600.stm I know it happens quite a lot, but imagine being SEO when this is handed in!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11...-deception.html A senior police surveillance officer who admitted tampering with his evidence during the inquest into the death of Jean Charles de Menezes was cleared today by an official investigation. Great news, i knew all along the Police were in the right. Mind you i expect the words "cover up" to pop up, or something similar.

In a series of articles, Police Oracle will be fnding out what the real issues about policing at protests are.... At a time when every action, reaction, state of dress and state of mind of every Met Officer on duty during the G20 protests is being scrutinised, Police Oracle is keen to get to the bottom of the real problems. Protests, demonstrations call them what you like, are not unique policing situations. They are similar to any event which requires public order policing- a football match, a Saturday night kicking in the street so let’s stand back and ask – haven’t we been here before with the May Day riots in 2000? How have we ended up here again and how can w…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11...ant-arrest.html One of Britain's most senior ethnic minority police officers is to face a second trial for alleged corruption. This is one odd character, and does not appear to be one with the rest of the Police force.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-...as-really-.html So THAT's what all the CCTV cameras are really for... Seems to me mate, the cameras did their jobs well. You slept safely, the fact that if you stay in a motorway car park longer then two hours, and did not buy a ticket, has little to do with cameras. Truckers have to pay £20.00 a night to stay in Motorway service stations, i see no reason that you should think your above it all.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/wiltshire/8059492.stm Two men have been jailed for life for torturing a 75-year-old cancer sufferer to death with his own walking stick in a burglary at his Wiltshire home. Turns out, no matter what the Police do, it can never be good enough. No panic button. Somehow they managed to turn the wrong doings of these three morons into, The Police are at fault. :smiley_strop1: :smiley_strop1: :smiley_strop1: :smiley_strop1: :smiley_strop1: :smiley_strop1: :smiley_strop1: :smiley_strop1: :smiley_strop1: :smiley_strop1:

Street attack men have terms cut Two teenagers who attacked a Lincoln man have had their sentences reduced. Steven Swallow, 43, had reconstructive surgery to his face after the unprovoked assault in June last year. Stuart Kisby, 18, of North Hykeham and Darren Wheeler, 19, of Lincoln, were both jailed for five and a half years at Lincoln Crown Court in November. But at London's Criminal Appeal Court Kisby's sentence was cut to three and a half years and Wheeler's was cut to four years due to their guilty pleas. 'Ferocious and repugnant' Mrs Justice Rafferty said because of the explicit assurance the Crown Court Judge had given the pair that they would be given credi…
