What an awful human being! What a terrible ordeal for any parent, especially so in these circumstances. The judge's comments at the end of the article speak volumes about this gent I think, how the abuse occurred over a very short space of time and not a protracted period.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/8223870.stm This report may come as a shock to the public but will be old news to anyone in the job. Yes NI have 7500 officers but i'd hazard a guess that over half are sitting comfortably behind a desk whilst response officers get hammered day after day. Indeed as one inspector told me...."response are the lowest of the low". It seems to me the force could survive without the ppu or neighbourhood or an inspector on every floor of the station but if you take away response everything comes grinding to a halt. As for officers spending 61% of their time in stations, what rubbish, I don't know how they arrived at that figure, the …

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics...-go-unpaid.html Published: 10:05AM BST 27 Aug 2009 In other areas, two out of three fines are not paid on time. The Police Federation criticised the fines saying they don't deter crime and they end up making the criminal process even longer. The collection record for the £80 fines has got so bad some forces are DNA testing, photographing and fingerprinting suspects in an attempt to stop people avoiding paying. In total it means that around £15m in fines was transferred to the courts for collection last year where offenders are given c…

An Aberdeen stripogram facing court over an incident while dressed as a firefighter has had the case dropped. Stuart Kennedy, 26, has been involved in several high-profile incidents due to his act. He performs as a police officer called Sgt Eros. He was due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Thursday. However a Crown Office spokeswoman said after "full and careful consideration" of the facts, it was decided there should be no further proceedings. The stripper was arrested on Aberdeen's Union Street in October 2008 while dressed as a fireman. Found guilty He denied breach of the peace and claimed he was unfairly targeted by police because of recent high-profi…

Police chiefs sent 550 officers on a 'positive thinking' course encouraging them to smile and tell revellers to 'have a good time'. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12...l#ixzz0PNqFUBQQ Not sure the Police have much to smile about, as with most law abiding people, all we read is horror stories from the oinks that walk our streets. With phrases like 'Have a good time please' or "Have a nice day" sounds to American. Much better would be, "do what you wish to do, break the law and we will have you"

http://www.thesun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/n...le-hackers.html CHEEKY computer hackers have hijacked a police website - and littered it with Frankie Boyle jokes. They put it down to CHEEKY, but is in fact a serious offence, and not clever.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/8218846.stm I assume the actual charge was misconduct in a public office...? Sounds like this person was a little unstable to have become obsessed with an arrestee and to continue to do monitor them even after being found out and moved to another team.

Driver fatigue rather than speed is the single biggest cause of collisions on Britain’s motorways, according to a top police accident investigator. Gary Baldwin, a forensic collision investigator for Thames Valley Police since 1988, says a lack of education is the main reason why fatigue is such a problem on Britain’s motorways. “It may sound silly, but people just aren’t aware of how dangerous it is to drive with your eyes shut,†he said. “People think they will be all right, that if they wind down the windows or turn up the radio the tiredness will go away, but that just isn’t the case.†His revelations follow the launch of a joint Autocar/AA campaign, …

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...utd/8221590.stm Listening to a guy on Radio2 now just saying how he's a season ticket holder, saying how he didn't recognise any of the "fans" to be the same old faces he sees normally, and so suspected that there were a lot of people who were there not to watch the game, just to kick off. discuss... but in my humble opinion this is another example why I prefer Rugby to Football.
