On 2 December 2009, the Home Secretary published a new programme of measures to help the police work smarter to fight crime, tackle anti-social behaviour and boost public confidence. The policing white paper will make the police more accountable to the public and deliver significant cost savings by working better in partnership, improving efficiency and standardising procurement. Protecting the public: supporting the police to succeed builds on the successful reforms in the 2008 policing green paper that have put the public at the heart of policing through neighbourhood policing, the single confidence target, the policing pledge and the ‘Justice seen, justice done’ …

:D Michael, Lee, and Jamie Muttram have plagued neighbours for ten years with abuse, violence, drugs, indecent assault, intimidation, theft and vandalism. Their catalogue of crimes is so prolific it took ten minutes to read a summary of their previous convictions to a court. It includes affray, assault on police, dishonesty, failing to surrender, indecent exposure, driving whilst disqualified, aggravated vehicle taking and going equipped to steal. They have also been linked to battery, criminal damage, threatening a witness or juror, being drunk in public, shoplifting and stealing cars. Between them they have clocked up scores of court appearances and been issued…

Police forces in England and Wales are to be told to make annual savings of more than £500m by 2014. The details are in a White Paper on policing to be published later. The Home Office document will also say officers should patrol the streets alone, rather than in pairs, to make them more accessible to the public. However, chief officers are warning against plans to save £70m by cutting overtime, which they say is vital to "front-line" policing. Meanwhile, the Home Office is expected to accept calls in a report on cutting bureaucracy, by former Police Federation chief Jan Berry, for forces to be given more discretion over the way they deal with less serious crime. …

Hopefully this is the best place to post this. Italian police crash Lamborghini supercar The car was the Italian police force's pride and joy Italian police have crashed their most valuable patrol car, a 165,000-euro (£150,000) Lamborghini. The accident happened near the northern Italian town of Cremona where it was on display at a student jobs fair. Reports say the car swerved to avoid another vehicle which crossed into its path, ploughing into two stationary cars. It was damaged beyond repair. One of the two officers in the vehicle at the time of the incident suffered a broken rib, the other received bruises. The Lamborghini car, painted in the Italian po…

TWO police officers have been injured after the vehicle they were in was hit by an out of control sports car on the M3 motorway in Hampshire. Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which happened when the officers were parked on the hard shoulder of the motorway near Eastleigh. It is believed they were speaking to a third person inside the police car when the MG sports car collided with the vehicle, on the northbound stretch of the motorway near junction 13 for Chandler's Ford. Emergency services were sent to the scene to free the crash victims including Hampshire Fire and Rescue's special equipment unit from St Mary's. Police Inspector Julie Fry said, "…

'Foolish lads' who had sex with girl, 12, who pretended she was 17, are freed on appeal By JAMES TOZER Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12...l#ixzz0YQ611XDi It appears, well according to this judge, ignorance is a good defence. "One of the first women to be appointed a High Court judge, Dame Anne Rafferty has been involved in a string of high-profile cases. This year, she freed a man convicted of rape because his trial had lasted six months, making it too difficult for the jury to follow." So the wonderful woman ( i use the term wonderful) quite wrongly, has a history of dubious decisions. Second story and even more sickening. Family fury as teen …

The constable was running to the scene after a call on his radio, but tripped and suffered a severe leg injury as he hit the ground. He was taken to hospital but days later he became critically ill when his leg became infected and surgeons were forced to operate. Friends and colleagues of the popular officer are said to be shocked but are already rallying to fundraise on his behalf. Today his bosses paid tribute to the officer who they say suffered “a devastating injury†in the line of duty. The Southampton officer – whose name …
