Three men knocked on an 87 year-old woman's door and claimed they were from the police. On entering, they searched the house and stole £300. The offenders are described as being similar looking and possibly related. They were white, aged between 25 and 35 years old, about 5ft 8ins tall, of stocky build, with dark hair and clean complexions. More drivers are using hand-held mobile phones than before tougher penalties were introduced two years ago, the Transport Research Laboratory has said. It found 2.6% of car drivers used hand-held phones in 2006 - when fines rose to £60 and three points could be added to licences - compared with 2.8% now. Phone-using drivers are four times more likely to crash, the TRL added. Ministers say work continues to highlight the dangers. The TRL study involved more than 14,000 vehicles. The report's authors believe there is no reason to think the picture at the 30 sites studied in London is not the same right across the UK. Researchers said the 2.6% of car drivers using…

I had passed my Assessment day in June 09 and was told I had my Final interview in Sept then got told its moved right. Had a letter today from Lancs recruitment stating they have closed all applications for those who applied Feb 09 onwards & were sorry. They have said they are probably recruiting this time next year but my AC Score runs out after 12 months, you just feel all the waiting, taking time off work for the AC day and research done for nothing! Recruitment said its come from senior officers. I'm in a good job and enjoy it but wanted to give this a shot, its made me think though how much is wrong with the recruitment process and getting messed about.

How do the police know that the thieves are middle-class? Is this based on what items are stolen? The list of items given in the report would seem to be the things anyone would steal. However, the shoplifting highlights another sad reflection on the consumer society where people have been made to believe that ownership of material goods will make them happy, and turns ordinary folk into debtors and thieves. http://www.eadt.co.uk/content/eadt/news/story.

http://www.hampshire.police.uk/Internet/ne...ce+aircraft.htm A 25-year-old Fareham man was today (Friday, November 27) sentenced to three and nine months’ custody, to run concurrently and suspended for two years, for recklessly endangering the Hampshire police aircraft by directing a laser pen at it as it flew overhead. He also is required to complete 150 hours of community service. Sometime ago i brought up this subject, when someone using a laser pen on a Police helicopter was brought to justice. I called it attempted murder, i was poo pooed, and poo pooed wrongly in my estimation. In this case they call it "reckless endangerment" . "the offense of recklessly enga…
