:D :D It is a scene sure to infuriate anyone who has ever been slapped with a ticket for a seemingly innocuous parking offence. But not only was this police car standing on double yellow lines - its tax disc was also 23 days out of date. The picture of the marked Honda CRV was taken by shocked driver Nigel Dowsett, in an attempt to expose what he believes are a staggering set of double standards. Double-yellow standards: This police car was not only parked illegally - it also had an out-of-date tax discAccording to the law Dorset Police should have prosecuted themselves for the criminal offence of failing to display a valid tax disc which is punishable by a £60 fin…

Thought I would post this because (surprise surprise) there has been absolutely no widespread media attention praising the police on handling a very difficult public order situation very well, during the English defence League/ UAF/ 'Islamic' protestors' clashes on Saturday. Firstly well done to the scores of Nottinghamshire Police dog handlers who performed with great skill in controlling the 'protestors' and protecting their dogs. Given the recent barrage of criticism you have all received following the mistake of one of your colleagues, Saturday was a testament to your professionalism. Next well done to the Notts PSU teams(and mutual aid units from various forces).…

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/notting...ire/8399019.stm The cost of controlling rival political protests in Nottingham at the weekend could pass £1m, officials have said. I am sure the media will get around to praising the Police effort to maintain law and order during this protest. :smiley_notworthy: :smiley_notworthy: :smiley_notworthy: :smiley_notworthy: :smiley_notworthy:

A Cumbrian town split in half by floods which killed a police officer and forced hundreds to flee their homes has been reunited with a new footbridge. Workington's new Barker Crossing, built by the Army, is named after Pc Bill Barker who died when nearby Northside Bridge collapsed. He had been trying to clear people from the unstable bridge at the height of the floods on 20 November. Schoolchildren were the first to cross the temporary bridge at 0805 GMT. I'm immensely proud of what my boys have achieved in the last ten days Major Nigel Hindmarsh, Royal Engineers Soldiers work to unite flood town The 170ft (52m) Barker Crossing, which spans the River Derwent, too…

The BBC is reporting the sentencing of 4 of the people involved in the robbery that resulted in the death of PC Gary Toms. Link to BBC article From the article it appears that his death was the result of the getaway driver trying to force his vehicle past the ARV. But no charges have been brought against these people for his death, only the robbery? On a day where a woman who killed a 15mth old while trying to drive to hospital drunk after a failed suicide attempt is appealing against her 7 year sentence the decision not to prosecute just doesn't seen right. Addmitedly the article didn't give full details to back up the Mets decision (which may be fully justified fro…

Police spending in England and Wales 'to fall by £500m' Officials believe forces should make purchases together Police forces in England and Wales are to be told to make annual savings of around £500m in the next five years. The details are in a White Paper on policing to be published later. The Home Office document is also set to say officers should patrol the streets alone, rather than in pairs, to make them more accessible to the public. Police in all 43 forces are also to be given more discretion over the way they deal with less serious crimes, after a successful pilot scheme in four areas. BBC home affairs correspondent Danny Shaw says the government has inve…
