Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner John Yates called for security staff to use their experience to apply stop-and-search powers "sensitively" and warned that al Qaida regularly changed tactics to keep a step ahead. A husband and wife were killed last night after a driver jumped a set of red lights during a high-speed police chase. The 31-year-old driver was spotted by officers going through a set of red traffic lights and then accelerated away when they told him to pull over. A police officer has been jailed for nine months for taking a second job conducting wedding ceremonies. Mohammed Patel, 49, often called in sick from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) when there was a clash with his secret second career, a court heard. Patel conducted weddings in Bolton, Bury, Lancashire and Trafford, Manchester Crown Court was told. Patel, of Honiton Drive, Bolton, pleaded guilty to seven counts of misconduct in a public office. Elise and Harry Donnison were found in holdalls in the boot of a car The mother of two toddlers found dead in the boot of a car in East Sussex has been remanded in custody charged with their murders. Fiona Donnison, 43, of Lightwater, Surrey, is accused of murdering Harry Donnison, aged three, and his sister Elise, two.
