See story here Sorry, Jacqui, but I suspect there are around 130,000 men and women, regardless of political leanings, who are laughing their socks off this morning. How does the saying go? Ah, yes. What goes around comes around. A richly deserved defeat, in my opinion.

There is always a price to pay for rising crime rates and an over-stretched police force. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12...l#ixzz0NS8jZABS Not the first time i have brought up this subject. I still do not understand, that if people are prepared to pay out for a private so called Police force, why not just hand the money over to the REAL Police, and we all get more Police on the streets.

A health chief was reported to police by her own young children - because she was so drunk, a court heard. The boy and girl, both under 12, dialled 999 when they became 'frightened' because their mum couldn't stand up. Cardiff Crown Court heard their mother, 47, a well-paid senior health official, was so drunk she told the children: 'I hate you both'. Conviction: The woman admitted two charges of child cruelty through neglect at Cardiff Crown Court The woman, who can't be named for legal reasons, yesterday admitted two charges of child cruelty through neglect. But a judge let her off a jail sentence after being told she is getting help for her drink problem. It was…

A psychopath who bludgeoned a Teesside doctor to death with a hammer has been refused the right to a face-to-face interview with a newspaper journalist. Wilson could use a live interview to romanticise his past, ruled the court Reginald Wilson, 44, is serving 30 years for the murder of Middlesbrough skin specialist David Birkett in 1990. He was challenging a Prison Service decision not to allow the Guardian newspaper interview at HMP Wakefield. But judges at the High Court upheld the ruling, saying he might use the meeting to "glorify" his violent past. Wilson tricked his way into Dr Birkett's home by pretending to be a motorbike courier before killing his victim…

A police community support officer who was pushed into a fast flowing river by a suspect he was chasing ended up saving the man from drowning. Christopher Missen spotted the man, who was wanted by police in Cardiff, while out on patrol and gave chase. He was pushed into the River Ely by the suspect who also lost his footing and followed him in but could not swim. Mr Missen, a volunteer lifeboat man at Porthcawl, rescued the man who was then arrested when safely back on dry land. Mr Missen, 23, explained: "When I saw him I was on patrol with a police officer at the time. He ran off so we gave chase." He said he caught him up as they ran parallel to the River El…

Scotland Yard has been urged to destroy thousands of dangerous dogs rather than paying more than £10m to care for them. The Metropolitan Police plans to outsource kennelling and care of dangerous dogs, which could cost up to £10m over four years. Lord Harris, former Metropolitan Police Authority chairman, asked: "Why don't we just put them down?" A record 1,146 dogs, including pit-bull terriers, were seized in London in 2009. Police currently have 451 dogs. Each dog can cost the force up to £9,000, while owners fight lengthy court cases trying to prevent destruction. Lord Harris said the public would be shocked by the cost. "We seem to be spending an enormous sum of…

Spending on police overtime in England and Wales increased by 90% over the past decade, the independent Centre for Crime and Justice Studies says. The overtime bill was nearly £400m last year, even though there has been a record rise in the number of officers. The Centre has urged a public debate on the future size and role of the police. Earlier this year, before the change of government, the Home Office announced that it had a plan to cut overtime by £70m a year. With Theresa May appointed the new home secretary only on Wednesday, a Home Office spokesman said the department would work with her to establish her priorities and "how best to implement government polic…

http://news.bbc.co.u...ire/8680584.stm A drunk man jailed for a "prank" attempted carjacking with an imitation gun has had his sentence cut at the Appeal Court in London. "manifestly excessive" Was it "manifestly excessive"? i don`t think it was, in fact rather to lenient. Plus, it may have been a prank, but the Police did not seem to think it was at the time. "Police were called and he was arrested later that day after an armed response unit was mobilised," "But Wypych's barrister Matthew Kirk argued he should not have received a sentence as long as two years, particularly because it had only been a prank." Looks very prankish till it happens to you. In short if i …

A murderer who killed three women should never be released from prison, a High Court judge has said. Anthony Hardy admitted killing three women in 2003 Anthony Hardy, 60, got three life sentences in 2003 for murdering three north London prostitutes to satisfy his "depraved and perverted" cravings. The case was back in court following changes in the law on setting the minimum period a lifer must serve. Mr Justice Keith, sitting in London, gave Hardy a whole life order, meaning he will die in jail. He said: "I have decided that Hardy should never be released from prison. "This is one of those exceptionally rare cases in which life should mean life." Hardy, of Cam…

FOUR special constables proved their worth to society when their pro-activeness helped take down a knife attacker. In October 2009 a man was stabbed three times in his chest outside his home in Selly Oak following a dispute over a debt. His injuries were potentially life-threatening however he was initially uncooperative with the ‘specials’ other than naming the offender. Those responsible for the attack had made off from the scene but after patrolling the area the team of four began to get their breaks. Two women were arrested for assisting an offender and three men were stop checked in the area but they couldn’t be immediately linked to the offence. Descriptio…
