A father was warned he faces jail after his teenage stepson accidentally shot himself in the head while posing for a photograph with his illegal handgun. Mike Hole, 50, of Newport, dialled 999 fled the scene, thinking the boy would die, and hid his semi-automatic gun, Cardiff Crown Court was told Lewis Bailey, 15, had emergency surgery and has since made a full recovery. A retired doctor who was wearing a cricket helmet while driving ran over a man who he believed had been tailgating him, a court heard. Dr Anthony Hall, 74, flew into a rage and flashed his lights after Anthony Grainge overtook him, it is alleged. When Mr Grainge pulled over, thinking something was wrong with one of their cars, Hall, who wears a cricket helmet while driving, is said to have deliberately hit him with his vehicle. Police search the protesters' camp opposite the House of Commons Brian Haw, 61, who maintains a round-the-clock demonstration outside the Houses of Parliament, was detained by officers on Tuesday. Zaffer Kurshid, 21, had just passed his driving test and was in his brother's powerful Volvo S60 car when he ploughed into Robert Allen at 70mph in a 30mph zone. A campaign is being launched to warn vulnerable people across Wales about doorstep crime. The doorstep campaign features the "ice-man" cold caller character TV and radio adverts and a mailshot warning about the dangers of cold callers will run through May and June. The £1.8m campaign follows the case of Anne Cornock, aged 76, of Sully, Vale of Glamorgan, who was cheated out of £272,000 by a doorstep caller. "Doorstep crime is an insidious and deceitful act," said assistant chief constable Richard Lewis.
