A cross-dressing robber has breached security at a jewellers by wearing a burkha and a hijab - before raiding the store with a trio of other masked men. The gang stole a large amount of jewellery from the shop in Bury Staff at Capri Jewellers in Bury had buzzed the man into the shop after mistaking him for a woman. The criminal used the full-length garment, favoured by some Muslim women, along with the face veil showing only his eyes, to hide his identity. As soon as the door was open the rest of the gang - all wearing balaclavas and one brandishing a shotgun - barged in. They stole a large amount of jewellery, including bangles rings and lockets, before making thei…

A Muslim protester who daubed a war memorial with graffiti glorifying Osama Bin Laden and proclaiming 'Islam will dominate the world' walked free from court after prosecutors ruled his actions were not motivated by religion. Tohseef Shah, 21, could have faced a tougher sentence if the court had accepted that the insults - which included a threat to kill the Prime Minister - were inspired by religious hatred. But - citing a loophole in the law - the Crown Prosecution Service chose not to charge him with that offence and he escaped with only a two-year conditional discharge and an order to pay the council £500 compensation after admitting causing criminal damag…

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/article/ALeqM5hBk091dfBxu0kqRI--STXajqU2Iw I thought all this was over after the Ali Dizaei case. How many more black policemen are waiting in the wings to sue??? It seems that being black is either an enormous drawback in the Met, or a meal ticket for those who don't want to do an honest days work. Surely the "victim" here must realise that continuing to rake up cases (whether justified or not), is only going to discourage others from taking up posts within the Met, so they are doing more harm than good. I am not usually a fan of silencing the press, so the next best thing should be a clear explanation of the case so that p…

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8660066.stm The Football Association will investigate the violent scenes that marred Luton's promotion play-off defeat to York on Monday. Luton supporters hurled missiles at York's celebrating players, with two claiming to have been hit by coins. BBC Three Counties commentators Ian Pearce and Euan Duncan described the scenes shortly after the final whistle. Seven people were arrested following violence after Luton Town's play-off defeat to York City. Bedfordshire Police said the disorder appeared to start when Luton fans invaded the Kenilworth Road pitch at the end of Monday's game. At one stage fans grabbed mops and brooms from a DIY s…

A mother has told how her family's lives are in ruins after a convicted sex offender was allowed to walk free from court. David Stothers, 36, of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, was given a three year community order for a sex assault in which he ordered the woman's six-year-old daughter to indecently touch him while he tried to take a photo on his mobile phone. The incident, which occurred in a churchyard in the summer of 2007, only came to light a year later when the girl told her mother. Her story was corroborated by a friend who had been sent away by Stothers while the assault took place. Bolton Crown Court heard Stothers warned both children they would 'get h…

A teenager has struck a victory for young thugs after an order to stop him wearing low-slung trousers and a hooded top was scrapped because it breached his 'human rights'. Violent offender and drug user Ellis Drummond, 18, was facing a ban on the clothing worn by many young people because he was considered to be using it in an intimidatory manner. Critics said today the decision amounted to the human rights of the criminal being put above the human rights of innocent people. The Crown Prosecution Service had applied for him to receive an anti-social behaviour order preventing him from 'wearing trousers so low beneath the waistline that members of the public are able to…

After saving up for months for a pedigree puppy, Leanne Stewart did the sensible thing and had her new pet microchipped. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1272752/Police-year-old-girls-stolen-pet-puppy--say-back.html#ixzz0n6BzrEqs "They have been told that they cannot take Millie off the new owner because the man bought the dog in good faith " This story thou mostly rubbish does bring up one interesting point. If one buys a stolen car in good faith, the Police find it, it is then either handed back to the original owner or back to the insurance company. Question is, why is this dog any different?

Police officers must be armed with even more powerful weapons to deal with a Mumbai-style terrorist attack in the UK, a top officer said last night. Scotland Yard Assistant Commissioner John Yates said officers needed a huge boost to their firepower to combat an atrocity where the aim is to kill as many innocents as possible in a matter of minutes. His comments reflect grave concerns that Britain may not be able to cope with a copy-cat attack and suggest moves toward the greater use of 'heavy ballistic weapons' including rapid-fire assault rifles and C9 Minimi machine guns, as used by the SAS, as well as more powerful bullets. Deadly: One of the Mumbai gunmen. Ther…
