The original story has already been posted but not the result. I think 18 months is too long in my opinion. A policeman who subjected a teenage girl to a 'deliberately cruel' ordeal that was 'little short of torture' has been jailed. PC Jason Hanvey, 37, attacked 18-year-old suspect Amy Keigher at a police station, threatening to rip her '****ing skull off'. Hanvey, who has a previous conviction for hitting a suspect, grabbed her by the hair and forced her head on to a desk before pulling her handcuffed arms up behind her. CCTV pictures show him holding the sobbing teenager in that position for more than a minute before ordering her to beg for mercy by saying: 'Pre…

http://www.dailymail...ildren-car.html Horrified CCTV operators helped stop a drunken a mother-of-three after spotting her leaving a pub and driving off in a people carrier with five children in the back. Police were alerted and Emma Hartley's car was tracked until she stopped outside a supermarket in Ely, Cambridgeshire, magistrates were told. A breath test showed she was almost three times over the drink-drive limit. Laura Mardell, prosecuting, said: 'Officers caught up with the vehicle, which was Mi…

http://www.dailymail...oam-free.html.A catalogue of failures by senior police investigating the crimes of sex attacker Kirk Reid could lead to the sacking of three high-ranking officers at Scotland Yard. Reid roamed the streets of London for longer than necessary after two major missed opportunities to catch him and because the trio did not make the case a priority, according to a report by The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC). A damaging assessment of the investigation states that the officers couldn't handle the wide-ranging nature of the case and failed to allocate enough resources to the six-year investigation. The sex attacker's case came below robb…

Interesting to note Maxine de Brunner reading the apology. She's done well to make it to Commander after her reputation took a battering after a trial collapse back in 2003. Three senior officers face misconduct proceedings over errors made in the Metropolitan Police investigation into a sex attacker in south-west London. There was a "sustained failure" in the inquiry which eventually led to Kirk Reid being jailed for life for 28 sexual assaults, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said. It was a "shameful chapter" in the force's history, the watchdog added. The force was "deeply sorry", Scotland Yard Commander Maxine de Brunner said. She apologised "f…

Bald man wins police hair drug test appeal A bald man whose application to join the police was rejected because he did not have enough hair for a drugs test has successfully appealed the decision. It is understood he was at an advanced stage of the Police Service of Northern Ireland's recruitment process when problems arose over the testing. Because of his baldness, he could not give them hairs of up to 3cm in length. He was also unable to provide about 200 body hairs as an alternative. PSNI lawyers told the High Court in Belfast he would be reinstated in the recruitment process. Policies will also be changed to ensure other sources of DNA analysis are included. T…

Four criminals were today sentenced for a total of 15 years at Southwark Crown Court for their involvement in a series of card frauds that took place in the south of England during 2009. Theogenes de Montford received four-and-a-half years’ imprisonment; and Rajakumar Thevathasan, Usman Mahmood and Rashid Abdi Hassan each received three-and-a-half years. Their scam involved tampering with chip and PIN devices in various petrol stations in order to copy the electronic data from customers’ credit and debit cards. The criminals then used this data to make fake magnetic stripe cards that could be used fraudulently overseas in countries yet to introduce chip …

http://news.bbc.co.u...10428079.stmThe head of one of Scotland's largest police forces has set out "radical" proposals to make better use of taxpayers' cash.Lothian and Borders chief constable David Strang is considering merging every part of his operation with other public bodies or forces. But he told BBC Scotland's Politics Show that frontline police officer numbers would be protected. The force faces savings targets of about £43m. Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill has warned Scotland's eight police forces of "unprecedented challenges" ahead, saying changes were needed because of public spending cuts. Joint working Mr Strang said the whole public sector was having…

Source: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23849198-met-boss-day-i-took-on-racist-yobs-who-called-me-paki.do Scotland Yard's most senior Muslim officer has told how he challenged a gang of yobs who racially abused him while he was off duty. Chief Superintendent Dal Babu was walking to a church confirmation when he was subjected to shouts of "Paki, Paki." The father-of-two blocked the men's path until help arrived, as they tried to jostle him and push past. Two people have now been convicted over the abuse. The Harrow borough commander, who was awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list, told how he was on his BlackBerry getting directions to the c…
