Just went to look up the latest statistics on the CSCP web site - http://www.cumbriasafetycameras.org/ and got the STOP - THIS IS AN ATTACK SITE message! When I clicked "ignore this warning" it displays a message saying the site is being updated. That'll be a first - the news section hasn't been updated since 2007! Anyway, "BADWARE" advice says: Maybe they are finally getting their cumuppence for publishing those dodgy survey results which claim so many people support the speed cameras!!! Googles help page has this to say: Remember to keep your spyware and virus prevention software up to date. While you are online shopping, or even visiting an appar…

Pc Anthony Davitt, of Whinmoor Road, Liverpool, had denied the charge of misconduct in a public office. He was unanimously cleared by the jury at Liverpool Crown Court after one hour and 15 minutes of deliberations. Merseyside Police said Pc Davitt would remain suspended from his job until an internal misconduct hearing. Liverpool Crown Court was told Pc Davitt was caught with bundles of cash in his trousers after an operation by his force's professional standards unit to test his integrity. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-12043157 A Hampshire teenager who used an improvised explosive device (IED) to blow up a neighbour's car has been jailed for seven years. Robert White, 19, put the bomb under a car owned by neighbours of his aunt and uncle in Bishopstoke, near Eastleigh. White, from Truro Rise, Bishopstoke, appearing at Southampton Crown Court, had denied causing the explosion. Judge Peter Ralls QC ordered White to be placed under extended licence for five years on his release. Earlier the court heard that a row had broken out between White's aunt and uncle and their neighbours over a fence panel which had blown over in high winds…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12056873 The UK's largest police force is facing the most "challenging" time in its history, according to its commissioner, Sir Paul Stephenson. Metropolitan Police officers were being stretched by a combination of budget cuts, violent protests and security threats, he told the BBC's Today. He warned budget cuts would leave the Met with a "significant budget gap" and the force would shrink. Police funding is being cut over the next four years. The Met has 53,000 officers and staff and a £3.6bn budget. He also said the stretch on resources and the challenges the Met was facing are "not as we've known it for a long, long time". …

BBC News Link Yeah, of your own accord you're warm, safe, and waiting for a plane to take you to a fancy foreign wedding. It's just like homelessness. I'm sure the train to work is like heading to Auschwitz too. Honestly, when bad stuff happens to rich people, I do have to laugh that little bit more. In the mean time, the snow doesn't affect me because I can't afford a plane ticket, so I'm at home studying for exams in january.

http://www.bbc.co.uk...sussex-12040424 A former police officer has been given a suspended prison sentence after he tried to claim £3,500 handed in to police belonged to him. Lewes Crown Court heard Peter Yeats, 32, made several telephone calls to the force in the false name of Kirk Rose claiming his wife had dropped the cash. He resigned as a Neighbourhood Response Sergeant at Hastings on 16 September after his arrest on suspicion of fraud. He was sentenced on Monday to three months in jail, suspended for a year. Yeats was also ordered to carry out 60 hours of community service. The court heard Yeats spotted an entry on an incident log in July that a cash-fi…

However, bound over to keep the peace for 12 years?? Surely they mean months? Has anyone else heard of a binding for this length of time before?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-12047686 A burglar who fronted a Greater Manchester Police campaign urging offenders to stay out of prison this Christmas has been sent back to jail. Earlier this month Tommy Rouse, 35, of Bury, posed holding Christmas cards which were sent to repeat offenders. The force said the cards were a "timely warning" about what people risked by straying from the straight and narrow. Rouse, a father of five, breached his bail conditions by testing positive for drugs and was sent back to jail. 'Don't be a pudding' He had been convicted of a range of offences in the past 20 years, including burglary, car theft, assault and…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-12026743 A lack of snow on a roof helped police in Leicester uncover what they called a "significant" cannabis factory. Reports of suspicious behaviour led officers to look in Aylestone, where they noticed only one house in a street had no snow on the roof. On Thursday, the Montrose Road property was raided and about 300 cannabis plants and a growing system were found. Officers said the systems gave off a lot of heat and the lack of snow helped confirm suspicions about the house. No-one was in the house. No arrests have so far been made but police said inquiries were at an early stage. Pc Chris Gerrard said t…

A lawyer has criticised the Crown Prosecution Service for prosecuting a police officer after he mounted the kerb as he responded to a 999 call. Pc Neil Stovin, 40, was found not guilty at York Crown Court of dangerous driving and careless driving. He was charged after he mounted the pavement while responding to a 999 call and reports that a 90-year-old woman had collapsed in Hull. The officer's lawyer said the case was a waste of taxpayers' money. The court was told as Pc Stovin sped to the scene in his marked police car on 10 July last year, his path was blocked by two abnormal loads and he mounted the pavement for a short distance. "The police supervisor who pursue…
