I am have just been given the date for stage 2, im still waiting to find out what stage 2 consists of exactly but they have told me there will be the fitness test. im confident doing the bleep test and I passed the SEARCH According to the MOD website "Candidate invited for fitness test (7.6 on bleep test) and firearms assessment. Can anyone give any details on the process of selecting and being posted to a certain location? How does it work? Do you get a certain amount of choices or are you given what you get? Thanks.

Hi. I am very much considering applying to the MDP and I have been looking into the role, and the selection process. I live in Scotland where we do not use SEARCH to recruit Police Constables to our traditional Police Force and therefore I am not all too familiar with the assessment. I am just looking to get some insight from those who have been through the SEARCH assessment. What does it entail? How difficult is it on a scale from 1 (Not difficult) to 10 (Extremely difficult)? How do you prepare for SEARCH? I will be very grateful for any insight :)

Hello, Just out of interest, what are the exact differences in the roles of Central Support Group (CSG) and the Operational Support Unit (OSU)? I've had a look the MDP's website and both units look very similar. I intend of applying for the MDP when they open up for NEOF (I understand there's no plans to open recruitment any time soon). However, do the OSU and CSG take NEOF directly? Im a level 2 officer and if given the chance would like to use this in the MDP. Thanks for taking the time to respond! Hi all, im heading to down Weathersfeild this Sunday to start training. I'm having a bit of a hard time trying to get my boots a mirror Finish. I've tried all the different guides on line. What I'm asking is do the have to be bulled to a mirror finish on our first day of arrival, or is that more important for passing out? Thanks.

Hi all. Getting nearer to start of my training in September, and I'm just looking for tips/advice for anyone that's been for the 17 weeks? What do you wish that you took with you that you didn't? I'm taking my car with me the first week, driving down from Scotland, so I can take some home comforts, so to speak. Thanks for any advice.

just wondering when is the next course pencilled in for? I know nothing is set in stone until a few weeks before hand, but I see that September has been mentioned a few times here, but an actual date could be useful (as I am looking at going on holiday in august and wouldn't want to miss the phone call)

Extension of Port Constables Powers This one nearly slipped under the radar, looks like Ports Police are going to gain extension to their jurisdictions under the Marine Navigation Act 2013 - seems like a very interesting proposal and about time to. I find it strange that Port cops weren't able to investigate crime connected with the ports outside of their natural jurisdiction though. Link

In SDSR15 a couple of lines made mention of a national infrastructure police force. This was further defined as one of two options, a mass bundle of various Agencies and Police Forces or two seperate Infrastructure Police Forces. The Home Secretary has decided on the second arrangement, and phase 2 of this review has begun. MDP, it is proposed, will merge with CNC and form an Armed Infrastructure Police. Phase 2 will be complete and report to Parliament this summer. I personally think that this could be good for both forces, opening up opportunities around the country for officers from both services. Has anyone seen it recently? It's embarassing! The "official" MDP replies to the queries posted by MOPs are poorly thought-out, poorly worded, and sometimes just plain wrong. It feels incredibly unprofessional, no wonder so many are questioning whether it's even a "real" page! Apparently, according to whoever is running that page, the MDP are not a "public facing" force?? -Tell that to the ASVs, Op. Servator Officers, Nuclear Convoys, Marine Unit to name but a few who would all argue otherwise!? Very saddened to hear of the passing of the Chief Constable this morning. I met him a few times whilst at Wethersfield and he was a really friendly approachable person, which is rather uncommon for an officer of top brass.
