The award, is part of the #PoliceEndOfYearTwitterAwards and was presented in the online ceremony. The awards, last night were led by Superintendent Kerry Blakeman (@kerrybalkeman) of West Midlands Police, and included awards for the Best Tweeting Officer, Best Tweeting Corporate Police Account and Best Police Informative Account. Friday 18 December, 2015 West Yorkshire Police are driving home their festive drink / drug drive messages as the festive party season steps up a gear this weekend. The Force has been inviting the public to 'dob in a drink or drug driver' and been once again detailing each charge made against those suspected of drink or drug driving throughout the month so far. Friday, 18 December 2015 Eleven men have today been convicted of historic sexual offences against two young girls in Keighley. The men, all from the Keighley and Bradford area, were found guilty at Bradford Crown Court of offences between 2011 and 2012. All but one of the charges related to one victim. Thursday 17 December, 2015 Unique place of safety for Halifax party-goers A different kind of bus can be seen in Halifax Town Centre on Saturday nights in December offering shelter and support to party-goers and revellers who may be feeling the effects of an evening drinking. Wednesday 16 December, 2015 Two men from Bradford who were convicted of supplying class A drugs have been ordered to pay back almost £1m from their ill-gotten gains. Mohammed Dawood Aslam, was sentenced to 17 years for conspiracy to supply class A drugs in September 2014 after he failed to appear at Bradford Crown Court in June of the same year. He was ordered to pay back £522,950.00 on Monday 14/12. This was made up from assets including a number of properties in Bradford, two high value watches and £147k in a bank account. People heading out in Leeds this weekend to celebrate the countdown to Christmas are being urged to stay safe on what police expect to be one of the busiest weekends of the year. Extra officers are being drafted in as part of a special operation aimed at keeping revellers safe in the night-time economy over the weekend that starts with what is colloquially known as ‘mad Friday’. A prolific shoplifter has been banned from Leeds city centre for three years following action by the police and council. Chantelle Mitchell, aged 38, of Broadway, Horsforth, was made the subject of a Criminal Behaviour Order when she was sentenced at Leeds Magistrates Court yesterday (7/12) for stealing two jackets worth £200 from Blacks, in The Core shopping centre, on October 13. She used a foil lined bag to steal the items but was spotted by staff and detained after a short chase on foot. Wednesday 9 December 2015 A 20-year-old man is due to appear before court tomorrow after being charged with the murder of Shuel Ali Hussain in Leeds. Rahim Gatewood (20) of Spencer Place, Chapeltown will appear before Leeds magistrates tomorrow (Thursday December 10). He was charged today with murder and conspiracy to pervert course of justice. Mr Hussain, aged 33, from Harehills, died from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen after being shot while sat in his car in Pasture Road, Harehills, on the evening of Monday, March 9. A 35-year-old man has been arrested following an incident at an address in Leeds today. At 3.53am this morning police received a call raising concerns for a man at an address in Victoria Park Grove, Bramley. Officers attended and found a man had barricaded himself in the upstairs of the property and was refusing to leave. Chief Inspector Chris Bowen, who oversaw the operation, said: "An operation was put in place to ensure the man's safe removal from the property and our colleagues from the fire and ambulance services were on stand-by at the scene. Tuesday, 8 December 2015 A Bradford man has been jailed for six months after he was found to have breached a court injunction. Wayne Coleman, aged 24, of Mary Street, was found guilty of breaching the terms and conditions of his order at Bradford County Court yesterday (Monday, 7 December). Coleman was served with the order in January 2014, which uses legislation under the Policing and Crime Act 2009 to prevent those with links to organised violent crime from associating with each other.
