Friday, 20th November, 2015 The West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Mark Burns-Williamson, and Temporary Chief Constable, Dee Collins, met with West Yorkshire MPs at the House of Commons on Tuesday (17 November) to explain what cuts of between 25% and 40%, to be announced in the Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR), could mean for policing and community safety across the county. A woman is due to appear in court charged with the murder of two children in Bradford. Samira Lupidi, aged 24, of Mint Street, Bradford, is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court today charged with the murder of one-year-old Jasmine Weaver and three-year-old Evelyn Lupidi at Mint Street on November 17. Post mortem examinations held yesterday establish the cause of both children's deaths as being multiple stab wounds. The family ask that their privacy is respected at this time. Wednesday 18 November, 2015 Transgender Day of Remembrance: 20th November, 2015 In recognition of Transgender Day of Remembrance on 20th November, West Yorkshire Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner, Mark Burns-Williamson are encouraging more people to come forward and report instances of hate crime. Wednesday, 18 November 2015 Police officers from Bradford District will join family and friends today in remembering PC Sharon Beshenivsky on the 10th anniversary of her death. A memorial service will take place in Norfolk Gardens in Bradford city centre from 3.10pm, where the Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Joanne Dodds and Bradford District Commander Chief Superintendent Simon Atkin will give short speeches, before a minute's silence is observed at 3.25pm - the time of the call to the travel agents in Morley Street, where PC Beshenivsky was shot and fatally wounded attending a robbery. Tuesday, 17th November, 2015 Police were called to an address in Undercliffe, Bradford at 11.28am today after they were contacted by paramedics attending a report of an injured child. Officers attended the address and found two young children with stab wounds. Both children received treatment at the scene but were pronounced dead a short time later. A 24-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and enquiries are continuing. Police are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident. Tuesday, 17 November 2015 A man who tricked his way into the home of an elderly woman in Bradford and stole her handbag has been jailed for five years. Shaun Jordan, 31, of no fixed address in Hull, pleaded guilty to the burglary at Bradford Crown Court yesterday (Monday). Jordan was in Bradford for a relative's funeral on 27 August this year, when he attended the deceased's address in Thornton Road and befriended an elderly neighbour. He asked if he could use the bathroom and for a glass of water, before stealing her handbag and leaving the flat. Jordan was identified after his DNA was found on objects in the woman's flat. Monday, 16 November, 2015 Ahead of the Christmas party season, West Yorkshire Police is highlighting the nature of rape and other sexual offences reported to the Force in a bid to reduce the number of crimes being committed. Over the festive period, police forces nationally tend to see an increase in reports of rape and other sexual offences. Work has been undertaken to understand the sexual offences involving people aged 16 and over reported over a 12 month period to West Yorkshire Police. Saturday 14 November, 2015 West Yorkshire Police and Bradford Council have thanked residents and business for their support after todays (Saturday 14 November) demonstrations in Bradford City Centre. Approximately 100 members of the English Defence League took part in the demonstration at Hall Ings, with 100 counter protestors also attending. There were eight arrests made in total, including for one arrest for inciting racial hatred and two arrests for public order offences. Tuesday 10 November, 2015 Three men and woman are due to appear in court charged with historic offences relating to sexual abuse at children’s home in Leeds. Roy Lovatt, aged 70, from Redcar, has been charged with five counts of indecent assault and seven counts of buggery. He is to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on December 9. The charges against him relate to the former Thorp Arch Grange Children’s Home, in Wetherby, in the 1970s and 1980s. Wednesday, 4th November, 2015 Firefighters and Fire Prevention staff in West Yorkshire are working hard in preparation for the busiest time of their year – the bonfire season. They have teamed up with local Neighbourhood Policing Teams and Council Partners to ensure everyone has an enjoyable and safe time. Together they are promoting the Gone in a Flash campaign (PDF) which gives a stark message about the dangers of mishandling fireworks. All entries must be hand drawn and fit the theme of 'staying safe at Christmas'.
