Friday 15th January 2016 A brand new BMW i3 car with range extender technology is being evaluated by the Force to help plan for the future. The vehicle, is an electric powered car which also uses a small petrol engine to drive a generator when the in-built batteries become depleted, thereby giving the user an extended range. Crucially, the vehicle has been loaned free of charge and will be used in response scenarios across the Bradford District until the end of February. Friday, 15 January 2016 Police are urging fans who drive to Bradford City home games to play their part in a team effort to reduce vehicle crime on match days. The mid-season reminder comes as figures show that thefts from motor vehicle in the Bradford West area, where Valley Parade is situated, have dropped by 11 per cent between August and January this year, compared to the same time last year. Thursday, 14 January 2016 A total of seven people have been spoken to by police in the first week of a major cross-district robbery investigation. Bradford District CID is leading the investigation which was sparked last week following a series of robberies in Bradford, Leeds and Kirklees over the 4 and 5 January, where high performance cars were stolen by males armed with knives, screwdrivers and pool cues. Wednesday 13 January, 2016 Police investigating an incident at a shop in Halifax in which a staff member was threatened with a needle have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to. Between 10.40am and 10.45am on Friday, 8 January, a man walked in to a retail store in Berry Lane, Halifax and started placing items in to two large gift bags. On attempting to leave without paying, the man was stopped by a male staff member. He then emptied the contents of the bags on to the floor and threatened the staff member with a needle before leaving the store. Tuesday, 12 January 2016 Police have arrested two more people as an investigation into a series of robberies where high performance cars were stolen across West Yorkshire continues. Earlier this afternoon officers attended an address in Bradford and arrested a 46-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman. The man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, robbery, assault and vehicle crime. The woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. To help the police respond to incidents effectively, the public is being reminded they should call 101 to speak to the police when there isn’t a crime in progress or risk of violence or threat to life. Monday, 11 January 2015 Police investigating a disturbance in Baildon in which two men suffered head injuries have made four arrests. The males, aged 13, 15, 16 and 17, were arrested yesterday (Sunday) from addresses in Eccleshill and Shipley. They were all arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit violent disorder and violent disorder and later bailed pending further enquiries. Zafar Iqbal, 39, of Clipstone Street, Bradford, has been charged with handling stolen property in relation to a robbery at a property in Rooks Close, Wyke, on 5 January. Friday, 8 January, 2015 Four people have been sentenced following an investigation in to a multi-million pound fraud against the NHS. Between 2007 to 2014, NHS employee Neil Wood - who was responsible for providing training contracts for NHS workers - outsourced work to The Learning Grove, a company owned by his friend Huw Grove. A percentage of the money paid to Grove for his services was then transferred back to Neil Wood via a company registered in his wife Lisa Woods’ name. The man was seen walking a small dog in Woodlands Crescent, Gomersal at about 6.45pm on Monday, 4 January. The raids occurred at addresses in the districts of Bradford, Leeds and Kirklees on Monday and Tuesday this week and involved males with face coverings armed with weapons including knives, screwdrivers and pool cues.
